I'm more excited about Silva than Thornley. Low cost, high potential. Let's not do our normal thing and decide he's going to be Peacock and Morley rolled into one before he debuts though.

One person does not make a team. From insta he runs hard and makes yards after contact which is what we have been looking for. Give the lad a chance at least. Wamsley was signed from a championship team I seem to remember and he’s been running over our players for the past few season.

I don’t get how anybody could be underwhelmed about the Silva signing. The kid will be about the 8th choice prop forward and may not play a first team game in 2022. I get the feeling he’ll play for the reserves and we’ll see how he goes and what he’s all about. If he’s as good as the last kid we signed from London then it’s happy days and he’ll have a great future here. If he’s not up to it then we won’t have lost a great deal.

That's the point isn't it - they are project signings.

Walmsley struggled with the basics when he signed for us. Bentley signed in 2017 and had to work hard in the bakcground to grab himself a regular shirt in 2020. Bachelor signed in May 2018, worked his nuts off and has got himself a number 12 squad number in 2022. Norman may start to make some appearances this year and may not - he was never meant to be cracking the first team by now.

Saints have got it spot on in their approach to development of these lads.

If Silva is expected to provide genuine prop cover in 2022 that would be a problem, but I can't believe that he is.

They're treating Lam as some kind of Messiah, as they do with every high profile signing/recruitment
And in 12 to 24 months when they realise he isn't theyll crucify him just like everyone else rather than face the stark reality.

Strangely enough that may not be Lams fault, and, he may do OK at leigh and the environment may suit him better

Thornley is an adequate 3/4 option, he currently imo isn't 1st choice and if he doesn't play week in week out that will be for 1 of 2 reasons

1/ the team are playing that well thatvhebisnt needed, I'll take that

2/ he isn't doing it in training/match day and is left out. Now if thats the case then either coaching is the issue or he is in fact a complete Dud.

I suspect Jake Bibby was the Gildart replacement all along and likely would have replaced him in that position in 2021 if it wasn't for Covid (this likely put Gildarts move back a year) and Manfredi's retirement leaving no-one to cover the right wing. Now Miski comes in to replace Manfredi and we revert to the original plan with Bibby. Not convinced he has the skillset to be a top centre but we'll see what happens when he gets a run of games there.

I agree with this.

People forget how young Bibby is and I think he was always being brought in with the knowledge that Gildart would be moving on and having him as a replacement.

None I know are, his defence is embarassing for a centre

Bibby has a lot of credit in hand with me. He was easily our best player last season. If he wants a go at centre he gets plenty of time for me. It all depends on what his defence is like ultimately because in attack i have no complaints. Unsung hero.
