Thought Bullock and Clubb played well in the short time they were on the pitch, both carted the ball up strongly IMO.
Looked totally disjointed in the first half, much better in the second half, Hardaker looked pretty sharp considering the time he's been off, reckon that should be him at FB for the rest of the season

Can’t pass for toffee and looked every bit a player who has probably played a handful of games at best in 18 months.

Surprising how differently people see the same game.

I never thought we'd lose tonight. Salford looked poor, unfit and, apart from Sarginson, had very little threat. The ref kept them in it in the 1st half with some very questionable decisions. I've never seen Powell so animated as he was when the ref gave the knock-on before HT btw.

The changes in the 2nd half showed the difference it makes playing seasoned pros in their best positions. We could gave easily scored a couple more and I don't think we scrapped home.

Poor first half from us but a decent enough second half. Hardaker looked sharp when he came on. Hastings got mom but absolutely bombed a couple of opportunities in the Second half. Harry Smith mixed a couple of really poor errors with some sublime bits of play. Field looked rusty but plenty to work with. We still look disjointed and poorly coached but you can give some leeway tonight with us having to chop and change.

We’ll need to improve out of sight on that performance but you never know.

Another terrible performance. We are so badly coached it’s dreadful to watch. Feel sorry for Hastings, absolutely giving his all but getting nothing back out of this team

Didn’t think we were as bad as early in the year.

Made a lot of breaks/half breaks. Although We came up with a lot of errors at key times. On another day we’d have scored 4/5 tries.

Glad to see Field out there.

Hardaker looked sharp but I feel he’s still better in our half (defence and good early set carries) than he is in opponents half (cut out passes to the winger for try assists etc).

Bateman was class imo, hope nothing comes from that scuffle with Livett (I thought a punch was thrown at one point).

Hardaker had a couple of chances to pull the trigger on a pass to the centre or winger to try and send them in but held on to the ball. It is what holds him back from being world class because at his best the rest of his game is.

Tonight was the first match that I've been to where I was able to sit in my usual seat, which was kinda nice. Maybe it meant a bit more to me than you guys, born and brought up here, but as a relatively recent Wigan dweller, it was nice to be welcomed back by my neighbours. But the game wasn't all that, was it? For sure we looked better with Zak at full-back and JH in the halves, but again I felt, JH will leave massive boots to fill. He has papered over so many cracks for Wigan, and has had a lot asked of him, and my admiration for him has only increased this season.

Without Hastings we are not even half decent

Icouldn’t attend on Sunday due to family commitments so was hoping for a decent follow up tonight but the standard was poor at best

If Lam is here next season I won’t be. He is boring me to death with his “attacking” rugby

His only excuse tonight for the quality of attacking rugby is us being a bit disjointed with a numbers of players in and out from Sunday but it’s no excuse really. That first half was just abysmal and I have no faith that even in a few weeks, with as strong a team as we’ll have out out all season, that we’ll look any better coached. There will be no excuses left for Lam when he has a team consisting of Hardaker at 1, Hastings and a fully fit Field at 6 and 7 and Bateman at 13, Isa and Faz in the pack and we’ll be leaving good players out of the 17 (thus is all being well) but I have no faith it’ll look any better.

As others have said the first half was woeful but once Hastings was moved things got a little better,Wigan need to find a replacement for him or next season is going to be a struggle.

Somebody needs to teach Bibby how to pass

It surprises me how far we have fallen, that people can defend that performance. It was a relief to win, it wasn't entertaining in any way, the amount of dropped ball and just general lack of having a clue is pathetic.

I’d be knocking on Lam’s door if I was Marshall saying if Bibby is my centre just play me at prop.

Bibby is really frustrating. He's got a bit of pace, can beat a man but just won't pass the ball. If he could bring a decent pass to his game he could be a pretty good centre.

I’d give Bibby some slack tbh. He’s been moved about a lot, both from wing to centre and from right to left and left to right at various times. Personally I think he’s had two really good games against Leigh and Salford. A huge threat with the ball, eating up the ground and making plenty of breaks. If he can develop that side of his game then I think we’ll have a far better player on our hands then we probably thought we had when we signed him.

Basically describing what we have our wingers doing though. It’s not something he’ll be able to develop, if he can’t see a winger in his peripheral vision then it’s just not going to happen. Isa can manage it, although his execution isn’t always the greatest.

Isa is surely an example that you can develop it to a degree. He wouldn’t/couldn’t pass for toffee last season and has clearly worked hard at it. It maybe that he just can’t do it and if that’s the case then his future may end up being as a full time winger but Id give him some time to settle back in to the spot before judging him too harshly. The rest of his game last night and in particular against Leigh was fabulous IMO. He terrorised Leigh and was a huge threat in the second half last night.

But isn’t Isa a centre by trade originally? It’s not like he’s just been shoved there recently having never played the position before.

Maybe I’m being too kind but he’s hardly player there in his time here. Isa isn’t a centre by trade now but he was as a junior coming through in Oz and when he moved here, so it’s not totally alien to him either. Ultimately with Bibby he offers brilliant value. I’d imagine he’s not on a fortune and I think he’s a really good player for us. He has things to work on and if he can develop his passing game then great, if not then I’m still more than happy to have him in the squad.

Just seen the highlights on Wigan TV. We looked clunky in our execution but I’m not going to get into the ineptitude of Lam again. In all honesty I haven’t the energy to.

It wasn’t a game I’d ever expect us to lose in all seriousness. Salford are a poor side, poorly coached and a playing roster which is average - poor at best.

Smith looked lively though, perhaps someone who saw the game could confirm.

Back to rocks and diamonds with Smith. He made a couple of really poor errors and mixed them in with some outrageous bits of skill. His career here will be defined by his ability to shelve those errors. If he can do that then he could be a top class halfback.

And that for me is one of the frustration with Lam as a coach - he was a very fine half-back as a player so if there is any position you would expect he could make a difference in coaching it would be with half-backs but there doesn't seem to have been any significant improvement there.

Better than just rocks, to stick with your comparison, which he has been producing. He just needs a proper knowledgeable coach and he’ll be a fine HB. I’d have loved to have him coached under Iestyn Harris/Paul Deacon like GW had the fortune to experience (perhaps Deacon more than Harris).
