Good test for Marshall. If he's going to be in contention for Wigan he needs to be an all-rounder. This a chance to prove himself defensively (he's passed the test in attack) against some quality opposition. See how he is in D, under the highball and positional play defensively.

Hopefully for him, and for us, he passes the test. If not, we have 3 other wingers chopping at the bit for 2 wing spots.

Anyone would think any of our previous wingers going back to when Hall first came on the scene have not coceded against him. The fact is hes consistantly scored against us and even the best defenders at international level for a decade or so. I Marshalls overall game has improved and playing, making the mistake and learning from it, going away and working on those weaker areas is the way.
The thing he has got is pace and that try poaching ability that cant be taught. We are in a great position of having three very good young lads playing for two spots.

Quite a switcheroo tonight it looks like. Sarginson will probably replace Leuluai and play at centre, Bateman to second row, O'Loughlin to scrum half, Powell to hooker.

On Good Friday we kicked to Makinson all afternoon instead of kicking to Grace . I really can’t work out if we have any sort of game plan apart from once we’re well behind we play attacking off the cuff RL.

Is it just me that’s losing patience with George Williams? Ever since he signed that mega contract he’s been nothing but sub standard. He’s greedy, does the same things over and over again and has absolutely no kicking game. We’re on about taking Sam off marquee wages; Williams should be following suit.

On the game itself it’s very poor one up rugby, from both teams I may add. A penalty and knockonathon, the team that takes a foothold in this game wins. Simple as that really.

Started to play in the 71st minute. Just imagine if we’d have actually turned up for the other 70mins, we’d have destroyed Leeds. The team set up was poor and the game plan was utterly embarassing.
Lucky win for me that. Leeds tried to be too careful in the end.

Personally I thought Sam was the difference tonight, he barely put a foot wrong and was very lively in attack amongst a poor showing from our halves and backs.
Williams was appalling again, I seriously cannot fathom why he’s on marquee money. He’s been an awful return for that contract, and Powell should be playing at hooker in place of TL and alongside Ganson. No way he’s a SL #7, he’s ruining his good reputation at #7.

My point even at HT. 4th game in 14 days and it showed. Play that 2/3 weeks either side of Easter and I think you see more from both teams.

Agreed. A poor game really, but I think we deserved it, had the upper hand for most of the second half.

Probably but you were chasing the game so probably threw more into that 2nd half.

Don't think either takes anything from that performance wise. Sure opposition fans (especially Saints) will jump on us both looking "bang average" but I think both of us know that both teams have loads more to offer come crunch time.
