Not to say he doesn't get undue criticism, but he couldn't catch a cold on the wing at the start of last season, a bad run of form that contributed to him being (fairly IMO) dropped. His defence at centre is often ropey too. Still I hope his performance in the friendly is a sign of things to come. Can't believe he's only 23!

To be fair he only dropped about 3 kicks, one against Hull FC early on and two against Catalan in a game where he went off through injury at half time. Other than that he had been fairly solid under the high ball. He might have been dropped after than game but if I remember correctly he was injured so wouldn't have played anyway. For someone who definitely wasn't a winger he adapted very well.

He's always been a centre by preference, and he's shown some signs that he's a got enough talent to make it, he's just never really put it all together. That's arguably something that could come with consistency which he hasn't had.

Kris Welham has come along way at Hull KR and while his defence still isn't top notch his defence when he first reached the first team was absolutely dreadful. With patience and consistency he's improved an awful lot though.

It's not a certainty that Goulding is going to be good enough, but in the circumstances he definitely deserves his chance and deserves a bit of patience.

If he'd just been bunking it I think he'd be looking at far more then getting his hair dyed a daft colour which just seems a bit of a laugh.

He's obviously had the odd late or 2 but I can't see it being much more then that seeing as Wane was prepared to pick him at the weekend. If he was purposely taking the pi*s already i'd expect he'd be given a real dressing down and warned where he'll end up if it continues.

The day he didnt turn in was after the Hull KR game. He probable did get a real dressing down.I dont know if he is playing or not Thursday night .

Maybe he wasn't at training because he picked up a knock and was told to rest.

I always thought that one of the bonuses of having a coach who has recently coached in the NRL is that they may have more awareness of the talent that is available in terms of overseas signings and i would be interested to know exactly how we identify oversea's talent now compared with in the recent past - im pretty confident that is one area that IL would have wanted to improve when he took over at Wigan.

Good to see Wane laying the law down to Gelling by playing him again tonight. Obviously the way to get into the team is to turn up late for, or even miss training - "I told you so", allegedly.

He's already been fined a fortune for turning up late to training!

I was impressed, Not saying he's the full deal just yet but he looked like a very promising talent. Good footwork, looked strong and very hard to put down. I can see him doing a good job for us.

How do you pronounce Gelling? Is it like 'hair gel' or is it like Gull with an e?

Nice for Lockers to get MOM but Gelling was the true man of the match easily the best player on the pitch for either side, Worked his socks off scored a decent try, Passed well, Defence was solid alert to everything going on around him a brilliant performance IF these "rumours" are true then it didn't affect him in the slightest. On a side note i'd be disappointed if we don't comfortably beat Huddersfield first game they were very poor tonight with most of the first team playing.

We may have signed a cracker here. He's got things to work on but his natural skills and athleticism is very impressive.

He looks aggressive and a real competitor as well.
