Now back to the topic, I didn't come on here slating your club...I just wondered why he had been let go off after such a promising start and build up...especially given his form over the past season or so for Hudds....he looks top dollar, our gain and I ain't grumblin' about that.
Letting youngsters go is something which has probably been discussed on here plenty of times before and is obviously a sore point. Nuff said, thanks for the replies you beautiful people....now please get back to your peanuts.'"

| Best thing for him to leave Wigan, was ruined under Millward, however that being said, dont think i have ever seen anyone with such a high regard of themselves, in relative terms to their tallent!
Was a product of the attitude of 'I play for wigan, so I have made it.' An attitude that we a trying to get rid of.
Hope he goes on to reach his potential, however he may make Hanley look modest if he does lol.

He never amounted to much at Wigan during his tenure at the club and was released. He had pushed on and done relatively well at Huddersfield and under Nathan Brown seems to have developed into a promising number 6 (He ripped Bradford to shreds on Friday and I know many put Huddersfield's loss of form last season down to his injury.)
However hindsight is a wonderful thing and we have to go off the performances he gave in a Wigan shirt, which were substandard. Good luck to him for the future however.

Without other clubs "letting player's go" you would be in a mess... You are making yourself look a total spanner buddy... Its not a "sore point" at all, when you produce as many as we do, it's inevitable. BTW, you are not winding us up, just making yourself look silly.

It has but there aren't that many we'd have back. The only youngsters we let go who I would have in the first team now are Briscoe, Long and Wild.

| Letting youngsters go is a thing of the past, part of the Mo/Whelan era, we wont let the important youngsters go who are a part of our future with Lenegan in charge, no doubt about that. So anwar1983huddersfield's trolling attempt is a moo point anyway.

Wild's one that interests me tbh.
He seems to have built up quite a reputation in his time at Huddersfield but bar one season a couple of years ago i'm not sure why. He does a job don't get me wrong but when people start talking of international calls ups and i read Huddersfield fans saying he's better then guys like O'Loughlin it makes me chuckle.
He's a decent superleague player but I wouldn't have him back if he were available.
Briscoe over Phelps would be a very tough call
As for Long I woldn't have him back now after all the stuff thats gone on down the years. The majority of fans just wouldn't take to him but he has been a world class player. He'll always be the biggest mistake in terms of youngsters we let go we've ever made but even that had circumstances around it beyond rugby.

| kevin brown is a very good player, somebody mentioned on this forum that he has a poor defence but i can assure you he doesnt anymore, like the whole huddersfield team hes great.
he has put on a lot of size since he left your team and very strong now... important player for us as we saw last season when he got injured in the cup final... we lost direction and couldnt score!
expected to have a big season this time round.
also stephen wild is a tackling machine!!
think wigan will have a good season this year, phelps a top player... surprised you let flanaghan go though he looked good.

Glad brown and wild has turned out good, not a dig, but perhaps being at a team with less preassure than wigan is what some need. For a long time in his wigan career, wild was the invisible man when it was going bad.
For the record, we didnt let Flanaghan go, he wanted to go to Aus to be with his girlfriend!

Wild is the same type of player as Hansen but a bit better IMO. I prefer Briscoe to Phelps because Briscoe's the better defender and he scores more tries. Phelps is a bit better at setting tries up though, plus he has a better kicking game, IMO he's more of a stand off than a full back.

He choose to go because he wasn't getting any game at the time he made his mind up.
That one was Nobles fault and it is a shame but Ian Lenagan seems hopefull we'll get first refusal on him when/if he decides to come back.

I don't agree. Yes they are similar but Hansens discipline wins it for me.

Back to the original discussion Kevin Brown is the only one of our released players I would like back at Wigan, maybe Briscoe also.
He was unfortunate to be in the right place at the wrong time when Millward was around. I know of one superleague coach who uses Brown as a great example of how NOT to develop a good young player.

| If Brown were here now or if he were to come back in the next year or 2 I could only see a place for him at centre to replace Carmont.
Theres no obvious place at Stand off thats for sure.

I've always believed he was a natural stand off, so I would play him there, with Sam at 7.
It's hard to believe that Brown is still only 25 years of age.

The comparison between Wild and O'Loughlin interests me alot after having a debate with a Giants fan before the four nations last season. This Hudds fan reckoned O'Loughlin wasn't deserving of a place in the squad and that Wild was a much better player.
Now I know stats don't tell the full story but they at least give an indication that Lockers is head and shoulders above Wild in almost every area of the game.

Wild is around the same level as Harrison Hansen and it'd be a tough one to call but Hansen is younger and has more room for improvment imo.
