| It’s a close call between us and Thaler for who is performing worse. We had a good 5 mins I suppose. The pass for Gellings try was as forward as the first Manfredi one. The escort pen was pathetic and then that.
We don’t deserve much to be fair.

| I wonder if Lam will start to realise that we have a problem if Leigh are taking us apart again. Or is it some kind of cunning plan?

Probably for Leigh, Salford or Wakefield.

| I can cope with his loss of pace. He still showed a bit of gas to pull away & I'm sure he'll get a yard or two back when he hits full match fitness too.
He's been great in the other areas of the game and they far outweigh the pace thing. He's been solid under the high ball and excellent taking the ball up on our own line.

| Not necessarily loss of pace, that pitch looked quite heavy. French has just done the same where he had more or less open field and was caught.

That's pretty bad. They used to get around 3k in the Championship, where have they all gone?
Hopefully not a sign for things to come with clubs struggling to get fans back.

Something pretty wrong if you've been starved of live rugby for over a year, it's at home against your fiercest rivals and only announced to be shown on the Our League App 24hrs before.

| Fans coming back will be a long-term process.
The backline were pretty good but a painful amount of dropped ball / penalties. A tough watch.

| Typical performance for this year. Poor start, some weak defending and indiscipline costing us dear before we get back into it, only to make more stupid mistakes. Then come out in the second half and look fairly comfortable.
It was great to see French back at fullback and doing what he does best. He looks really dangerous and Hastings and Smith were impressive too. Just think what those players could do behind a strong pack of forwards. Not that you can fault our back row. Farrell was outstanding as usual and Bateman showed a few good touches. Once again though the middles were ineffective. Smithies, Partington and Singleton were never likely to take much out of Leigh. Havard was our best prop again (I still can't believe the criticism he gets on here). Clark made one outstanding carry then not much after that which surely makes him our 2nd best prop right now. Shorrocks had his first poor game of the season too with some wayward passing but you expect some inconsistency with young players.
Manfredi had a strong game and is getting back to his best. He might not be unbeatable over 80 metres like some wingers but he's quick over 20-30 and that's going to make a bigger difference in the modern game.
Bibby doesn't look like he's ever considered passing a ball but with Farrell and Hastings on that left edge he may never have to. Hardaker has gone from being our best player to never getting the ball. That probably needs to be rectified soon as it seems a bit of a waste. He's not as good at centre as he is at fullback but he is better when he's more involved.

| Same old, same old. Slow start, indisciplined, poor defence, poor attack, got off the coach at HT and to finish off Lammy with the usual “there’s more to come/more improvement coming”. I’m just wondering when? Nearly 3 seasons in now and it’s the same dross in the main week in week out. It’s a good job SL is a poor standard to be honest.

Correct. The attack looked so much more dangerous, even though it’s anything but clinical. It’s a tough situation because you have Hardaker who wins Superleague’s player of the month and has a great start to the season but his threat is very individual. He makes half breaks, is tough to pull down and scores some good try’s but French is twice the threat because he is also an individual threat but is so much better at picking a pass to a centre/winger.
I feel for Hardaker because there’s no doubt he wants to play fullback but we have a better one at the club. Long term it may come down to a choice of what Hardaker values higher if he plays his career out here. Does he want to play for Wigan more than he wants to play fullback? I’m not too sure.

| Seems like a lot of people on Twitter, Facebook etc are being a bit too harsh on our young forwards. It’s all a learning curve for them and although they aren’t bossing other packs now I’m confident when they mature they will be. They’re not a million miles away.
Most props don’t mature until mid- late twenties. Look at Luke Thompson at saints - he was nothing special when he first came into the saints squad for his first couple of seasons and then started to progress after experience. We’ve not just got one young player coming through we’ve got a whole pack full. Long term they’ll benefit from all the first team exposure.
Yes a big barnstorming prop would be a nice addition but to put it into perspective were joint top of the league with a young pack who will get better - I’ll take that all day long
