| I've just put my own sponsors on and I think the home kit looks slightly better with sponsors on, would rather have no sponsor on the away one

Well, Maurice Lindsay wouldn't let a kit like that happen.

Quote ="marko"I like the black away one very simple and stylish, just concerned the sponsor will tarnish it by overlaying the design.
Not keen on the home but will maybe grow on me in time.
Personally i would love to know how much the designers at Kooga are being payed? as they have had a year or so to come up with these ideas. I myself posted a few designs on this forum which i threw together in no time at all. Don't get me wrong some of mine aren't the greatest shirts you will ever see, and know there is a lot more to designing a playing strip than just your basic design, for instance shirt fitting, fabrics, colour coordination, accommodating space for logos and sponsors etc etc. But given the right amount of time, tools, and most importantly opinions, i think i could come up with better.

That would've been awesome.
I agree with everything you've said there. A superb classic look like that would outsell everything we've had for the last decade.

Thats the bit i don't get! Who made the call at the club that this would be the shirt? they seem to comment on how they read these boards pretty often and surely would have had a look when thinking about the kit. I'm pretty sure nobody has ever posted 'lets have some tacky slashes on the front' so why bother!
They should take a list of about 5 or 6 designs to a fans meeting and let everyone do a vote. At the end of the day the fans are the people who buy these things and if they like them it's going to sell.

Well I'm not sure so with the away kit being so popular.
I can only assume these slashes are a kooga thing because Bradford's kit is awful as well with slashes all over it.

I completely disagree with you here.
I don't know how old you are, but if you are >30 you would appreciate how much he did for the club.
Were it not for the "gang of 4" then Wigan RL would be in the same place as Barrow and Whitehaven now.
Bilko, I admire your web skills, work and knowledge of Wigan RL, but you are well wide of the mark on this one imo.

If you dug out the same thread from last year, year before etc pal you'd find about 80% of people who moaned bought one, they always do. You soon get used to any design once the players are running round in it.

I didn't, and I won't be buying this one.
Best away kit imo was the "Canterbury" one around 1984 or so?????

I'm sorry but I can't agree with you here!
Yes they will sell more but does that make it ok or alright?
I've yet 2 see in my time this much hate for a new shirt!
Again look at the designs Marko made up and find me three people who would be unhappy with one of those? Not everyone is gonna agree BUT the majority don't like this shirt!
IL hasn't done well here as the majority of people on this site seem to agree around a basic design for the shirts! How hard can it be?

I honestly don't see the reasoning behind throwing tantrums over something as simple as a rugby shirt design. It is restricted to using certain colours and be based around hoops. If Marko had to re-design every year he'd at some point produce that one, there's only so many variations on such a theme. They should launch the shirt in the middle of the previous play offs when people have got better things to worry about.

Complete . He did what he always did and played to the rules which did NOT say deferring wages was against the rules. We got done because RFL decided it was "against the spirit of the cap" which was a total cop out.
It's against the rules now - they had to write it into the rules after that little fiasco but it makes me mad when oppositions fans say we cheated never mind our own.
Several teams operate "against the spirit of the cap" in my opinion and always have done. What they do isn't against the rules either but they don't have some tin pot Cas chairman kicking up a fuss against what they are doing.
Dave
PS You are right it is not for this thread but if post as you did....

| Quote ="JTB"They'll sell shedloads anyway. There's all this fuss every year and everyone still buys the shirts.'" Absolutely right. There were loads of people moaning about last years kit but they still sold shed loads of those. Wigan won't be bothered which kit sells best as long as they reach their projected sales targets.
People who only usually buy the home may buy the away shirt instead but that isn't going to harm our bank balance. I don't particularly like the home shirt but I'm pretty much over it now.
I've got more important things to worry about like who is going to be my scapegoat for next season. I hope to have him in place before the first friendly game.
