I felt the opposite at times. It felt weird after the game listening to him talk about Wigan wanting it more and how tough they’re bread in this town and thinking he was saying it with a bit of pride in his voice but that’s how it seemed. He’s clearly still got a lot of feeling for Saints but I didn’t think he went too far either way.
On the flip side we had another shambles of a performance from Terry O’Connor with the mic. Wigan either really miffed him off with a decision or he is going overboard not to sound bias but his commentary is pathetic. His constant negativity about decisions is grating.

He said pre match that Saints were his club.
There are loads of examples in sport of people switching alliegiance (Connolly doesn't support saints anymore, Carragher and Rush were Evertonians, Peter Reid a Liverpool fan) but I really couldn't see myself suddenly becoming a Saints fan just because I work for them.

I watched most but not all of the game (work gets in the way an awful lot these days) but my word what a performance. Probably the best I’ve seen in a few years. Our defence was utterly brutal throughout! We absolutely flattened them and were aggressive to the point were I thought Wane was back in charge. Out enthused then and made them make uncharacteristic errors. I don’t even think Walmsley would have made a difference tonight in all honesty
Lam had it spot on tonight with his tactics. Even as a Lam doubter I can’t deny what I’ve just seen.
Brilliant, brilliant performance. Bravo lads.

Only seen the game and post match, so tough to comment on anything else. I thought he came across ok. Not too biased towards Saints and whilst he sounds as thick as a barn door, you can clearly tell he has a rugby brain.

| Outstanding from both teams.
Isa though, what an effort....made an absolute nuisance of himself all night, he’s just a machine.
I do think Walmsley is huge for Saints though, they just never seem the same without him especially now Graham is a shadow of himself.

I’ll admit I was stood in that camp at one time, placard and all. Well I’ve been proved wrong and happy to hold my hands up. Some (if not most) of his performances this season have been superb. Offensively and defensively he’s been ferocious and made a right menace of himself.

| Isa must be horrible to play against. He gets in game mode, where his eyes are glazed over and I’m not sure he’s aware of what is going on around him at times. He sees a Saints shirt and wants to smash it and he’d run at a brick wall. Young forwards like Smithies and Bentley would be well served looking at him and how he plays. They’re both aggressive but some of the petulant nonsense they show is a waste of energy. Willie Isa will blow things up at times but it’s all done in a manner that helps you win a mental and physical battle and not some of the ridiculous play acting we saw from Bentley last night or Smithies still swiping out at people when tackled.

Spot on. Not the first player commentators and fans will mention but the sort of player every side needs. One small cog in the overall team but a vital one.
A player I’ve banged the drum about before but it’s great to see Bullock getting good game time now and growing into the role. His physical attributes are superb, tall, athletic, nice weight and build. This lad is now starting to show the ability and potential that the club saw in him. With Singleton as his partner in crime, it’s looking good as these two lead the line as we enter the final phase of the season.
That was a great psychological win last night. Yes, Saints are a very good side but they’ve lost five games now and six if you add in their Challenge Cup loss. The seed of doubt has well and truly been planted. There’s still work for us to do, to have a chance of winning the GF, and luck will play its part, but I reckon we have that mental edge now.
I was so deflated after the Leeds self final defeat but surely was the big kick up the aris that we needed. Come on Wigan, we can do it.

| Quote ="MadDogg"Wasnt a forward pass by Leuluai either despite all.of the outrage. A lot of people dont seem to know what a forward pass actually is. Pause the twitter replay on 0.44 - you'll see it comes backwards out of Leuluai's hands - it doesnt matter if it ends up in front of the passer.
Terrific all round display - Saints with Walmsley likely still have the edge but it was great to see us so dominant and aggressive in that 2nd half. Dont think I'd be messing around too much with that 17 - bar maybe replacing Clubb with George Burgess if he can get somewhat fit.'"
It was forward a mile , but should not even be mentioned as Wigan battered Saints and were deserving of a far bigger winning scoreline . I do not really rate Greenwood but the lad had a fine game last night . Walmsley makes a difference but that is the first time Saints have been tested for a while and they came up short .

Again - watch the replay and pause it at 0.44.

| Quote ="some bitter idiot posted on redvee"Absolutely right. I'd like to be magnanimous but I'm afraid I can't congratulate a team that reverted to the old Wigan Sh*thouse thugby league tactics. Being bullied within the rules is fine but the constant unpunished lying on, the ten metres which was never enforced, the forward pass try which even PieTV spotted, the highshots, the sledging, especially when Grace lost the ball in to touch is just not acceptable. That isn't rugby league, it's Wigan League. The only team that can get away with such tactics with impunity (although Leeds and Wire have given it a go, with Wire almost being Wigan clones this season). They were fired up like a team of lunatics resulting in handbags and culminating in the attack on Lees when they'd already won the game. What are players thinking assaulting a player when the match is done? We didn't play well, I'll agree, but we did play within the rules...............maybe that's the issue?'"
I've missed reading things like this after a derby

In the end that's probably why he scored, more dog legs in their line than Crufts.

| In such a big game, such a superb game game and advert for the sport, it’s not half annoying to hear them bang on about a forward pass as much as that when a great try had just been scored.

| Thought Sean Long was really interesting to listen to. Gave insight into how a coach/ superstar player saw the game.
When asked about Widdop and Austin in the first game, he could have just given the boring stock answer, “two great players blah blah” but no he gave his honest opinion about them looking clunky and not on the same page.
The studio guests have been really good recently with Long, Hanley, Robinson and Leon Pryce.
More of them and less Baz and Tez please.

I think a large portion of those came in the first half too.
We absolutely knackered him out and he was completely ineffective in the second half. I didn’t even realise he was still on the pitch until around 70th minute.
