Depends if he is back of holiday, a week in Ibiza mid season. I wonder if he could find a bar to watch the MM games in? ![Rolling Eyes icon_rolleyes.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_rolleyes.gif)

| I would put Pat to full-back, bring in Ainscough, rest Feka and bring in Hansen. I know no-one will agree, except my mate, Peter.

| Based on form Mark Riddell should not be played next week. Michael McIlorum and Thomas Leuluai both had brilliant games last week and neither deserve to be dropped after their performances. Mark Riddell should have to earn him shirt just like everyone else.
Joel Tomkins had a very good game as well. Gareth Hock was as good as ever and Phil Bailey was decent in patches as well. I think Harrison Hansen too should force his way back in the side rather that just a straight walk in.
The whole Ainscough debate will continue to go on. If any of our back line need resting/a niggling injury etc then I would bring Ainscough back in. Pat Richards is such a key player to the side he wont be dropped. I would say Cameron Phelps/Amos Roberts are the ones to be careful.
Hopefully for me we go with the same team next week.

| Personally I think Wigan have to be very careful here. We have Pat for 3 years and Amos for 4. Do you think Aincough going to wait about for 3 years for a starting spot....no chance.
No matter who you are and how much you take home in your pay packet you just cannot simply keep out a guy whos the leagues top try scorer and scored 4 tries in his last previous appearence for very long...
I fear we will see very little of Ainscough between now and the end of the season and if he does play but does not do anything special he will be made a scapegoat and not be seen again.

But we haven't got Phelps for that long and, personally, I think 1 of either Pat or Roberts will be our long term full back

Phelps is looking better than both Amos and Pat at Full back at the moment and if he continues to improve or at least maintain his current form he will be offered a new deal.
What happens then?

I cant help thinking Roberts might move on, luckily for both parties is he's a good player who would probably get a deal quick if he was back on the market

Yep said it when they signed him.
I heard a few noises from within the club the other week that coaching team are really impressed with Roberts pace, footwork, skill and they cannot wait for him to settle into the team. I am not convinced Wigan will be getting rid too fast.

| Roberts or Richards will definanetly be given the 1 shirt next year IMO.
I can see:
1. Roberts
2. Ainscough
3. Gleeson
4. Carmont
5. Richards
14. Phelps - Worth keeping imo to cover fullback, , wing, stand off, hooker!
And i can see our remaining money being spent on 2 big props.
TBH as much as i like Riddell and Roberts we wouldnt be worse off without them IMO, especially for next year:
1. Proper Fullback... Hunt??
2. Ainscough
3. Gleeson
4. Carmont
5. Richards
6. New S.O
7. Tomkins
8. Fielden
9. Tommy
10. Prop
11. Hock
12. Joel
13. Lockers
14. Mickey Mac
15. Feka
16. Hansen
17. Prescott
ah well cant change the past, as long as we dont lose Ainscough, Tomkins, McIlorum ill be happy.

| It has to be the same team imo.
Thats a shame on Ainscough but i'd reward him with a place against Hull Kr to keep everyone fresh and on their toes.
McIlorum was fantastic on Saturday easily outplaying Cunningham which is a good sign and the lad hopefully has a big future here, he's been written off abit too soon in some quaters.
We've got some superb selection issues at the moment.

| Roberts long term future is at fullback. Ainscough & Richards on the wings. Phelps will rightly be given a new deal and may act as cover next season, but there is a chance he may replace Carmont.
Ainscough will play on Saturday.
People need to stop worrying, he will be going nowhere.

I'm not convinced about any of that bar the last sentence to be honest pal. Phelps was a former Aussie schoolboy and is starting to show his talent and also that we've maybe found his best position, although time will tell. Plus its blatantly obvious he really wants to play for this club and is a 100% commitment player. I and I'm sure the rest of the fans appreciate that.
Phelps IMO has thrown a spanner in the works in respect of the planned formation of the backline just like maybe the improved form of Coley will do with front row recruitment. I wouldn't say its anyone's fault however. People can say we shouldn't have signed Amos but no-one including myself saw Phelps as a possibility for a first team spot given his very average form at the time.

I cant think in the modern era where a inport has been left to rot in the 2nd team.

Richards was given a few weeks in the reserves in his first season.

Phelps aint big enough to play centre I dont think. I seriously think he has a good chance of making the FB position his own.

| Tbh i think its great that we can all debate about the back line with loads of opinions offering viable line ups.
We needed strength in depth and in Phelps/Roberts/Pat/Ainscough/Gleeson/Carmont we have that. Don't forget we also have Pryce(yet to be convinced with him), and goulding on loan. Things do look good. We have options at half back and hooker as well. Lots of back row forwards, but still think we need a big roughhouse prop.
The squad looks quite good and if Tim smith continues to shine we may hav a good second half of the season.
