Who cares if they're not as good as they could be because they've spent the most important part of their development years participating in an annual two-horse race rather than a competitive league in which the talent is spread around thus testing them hard each week? Regular 50-0 victories are great for the spirit (if not the ability). I mean it's not like they'd ever get beaten by the French.

Again, I go back to results against other super league teams in 16s, 18's and 20's. If as you say Wigan scouts aren't doing there job looking at other players then they can't be doing too bad comparing them to the other scouts off super league. As we are either up there with the best or the best in each individual age group.

I know even less about Burns than Green! I did wonder myself if HKR have pulled a fast one here but as you say only time will tell. Given what your fans say about Green I am more concerned about Smith replacing Tommy than Green replacing Finch.

Blake Green is a class player who was absolutely fantastic for us in the first year he was at KR, BUT

This season he's only played 9/10 matches and hasn't looked a patch on the player he was last year, perhaps being in and out of the side with injuries all year has knocked his form/confidence?

Considering at KR pretty much everything goes through Dobson in attack anyway, i'm happy to let him go to Wigan for 100k especially as we've already got his replacement signed up on a 3 year deal.

This was a GREAT deal for rovers IMO and not bad for Wigan, assuming you can get/keep him fit and on the pitch. When he's on form he really is a cracking player.

Blake Green is no Brett Finch, some of Finchs passes were great last night, imo Green doesn't have that in his game.
Good luck to him though, hopefully hell regain his 2011 form.

Some of them were awful as well tbf, he's trying the short death ball far too often IMO and it's resulting in a lot of errors.

Im looking forward to seeing the smith/green combination. Smith has been great for us this season in the little time he had played and green had looked good from the little i saw of him. I think people are too quick to write off this combination but they arguably have a better kicking game than tommy/finch and can run at the line.

All I will say is give him a chance. I remember when certain player from London signed for Wigan and a lot of people were say that he was not the type of player that fits in with the ethos of Wigan. Tommy has left a hero of the club. Just give Blake a chance, let him play a few games then judge him.

I actually think Blake Green can still play a lot better for Wigan next season. He had some very good games but I'd like to see him more consistently take control of games.

Him leaving should be out of the question - he has only 1 year left on his contract anyway so surely we will hold him to that.

If Storm offer to pay Wigan back the fee they paid HKR for his services and Green makes it clear he will go at the end of the season anyway he'll be on his way IMO.

I'd hope that, as Green has enhanced his reputation at Wigan, an increased fee would be demanded.

With a year on his deal I think we may struggle to get that. I don't honestly see him going because I don't think that sort of offer will be forthcoming but if it does I'm sure we'd let him go.

Ideally we need that extra 12 months off him IMO because come next year I expect Hampshire to be ready to make that step up to regular starter. He could be a sensational player for us at stand off.

You're not going to get an increased fee if he's going to go for nothing at the end of the season... Get him to sign a 12mth extension and then use this to get a better fee if they really want him...

It would be a massive blow if Green leaves. The club need to do their best to keep him for as long as possible.

Of course, there are several factors at play. Do Melbourne actually want him, and how much do they want him? How long does Green want to stay at Wigan? How will the youngsters progress?

Perhaps what I meant to say was "as long as we need him." And at the moment, we need him.

I agree, there might actually be a time within the next year to two where Green moving on would benefit us long term because we can't hold the likes of Hampshire and Williams back. Our halfback options for the coming season of Green, Smith, Powell, Hampshire and Williams really are excellent. It's a good mixture of age and experience and they cover all the bases of what you need from your halves between them.

There is also the option of Sarginson for stand off who played 6 at London and more recently for England Knights.
Those who went to the Knights game say he played well v Samoa.

I went to the Knights game and he did have a good game. I liked how he constantly took on the line and he linked up well with Sam Powell. I'm pretty excited about what he can bring this year. I think he'll add great utility value and in a better side he should progress and offer us similar options to what Ratchford offers Wire.

I'm excited to see Sarginson in a good side, a very talented player I reckon.

I think what this thread proves is that we have an excellent squad. And with a great coach in Wane, we should be very excited for 2014 and beyond. There's no reason we can't retain at least 1 piece of silverware.
