i think thats as good as the season finished for the Latics now (8-9 points adrift from safety and those 2 clubs have game in hand too). They are fighting, but ultimately dont seem good enough for the division. Some strange decisions made re manager through the course of the season havent helped them i dont think either, but those closer to the Latics would be able to comment on that
From a selfish perspective now, its what happens next? is there a genuine issue with the owners and what impact is that likely to have on 1. Latics future (staying solvent / administration etc etc) and 2. impact on Wigan RL (stadium staff, availability if any issues with administration). I cant remember what the direct impact was last time as think it was off season

We'll have to wait and see, I guess.
Risked checking a few of their Twitter feeds last night. They proved uninformative, though the Tics certainly seem to have made a lot of enemies among other football clubs. And I mean REAL enemies.
I can't imagine there'd be much euphoria on here if Saints, Wire or Leeds went bust. Old foes, yeah, but they'd be a huge loss to the game.

It's a strange football fan thing that I've never understood.
Had arguments with a few friends when Bolton were struggling. They're the first fixture I look for when we're in the same league and they're the first result I look for apart from our own. Why would I want that to go away?
The football fan mentality seems to be wanting your rivals to go bust. It's strange.

From an outsiders perspective, did some of that attitude not change when Bury went bust. It seemed after the way they were mis-managed, that there was a lot of sympathy from football fans near and far. No doubt, there will have been some who were piping up from their positions of safety, but as the Latics have seen it could only be just around the corner, and i think from what i read earlier this week Sheffield United are close / fighting off administration at the minute too
I suppose putting things into perspective too, Bury could have been saved by one of the larger premier league clubs financially as the money involved want massive (a decent player salary), but its not their responsibility to pay off someone for mis-management

i know, the saviour of the day has arrived (NOT)
i saw the WEP story on her yesterday, and just couldnt resist a response on twitter
She does absolutely nothing in or for the town that i am aware of, other than jump on the chance to get a good media story and get into the limelight, the sooner she is replaced the better as far as i am concerned

yep, the tweet from Steven Caulker is doing the rounds on social media
cant blame them to be fair. i know the players can probably manage without being paid for a couple of months, but its the rest of the staff you feel for

| The players have just been paid apparently. The chief Exec has left though and we’ve heard all the promises before (the Chairman has just wrote an open letter on the Latics website) but we’ll see how we go.

| Here we go again, late payment of wages, players have been "assured" it'll be there by the end of the day.
Latics fans talking about starting next season on -24, no idea if that's hanging over them after the last time but what a set of clowns these men are.
Last thing we need is Latics going belly up again with all the uncertainty re. the stadium it causes us.

Feel sorry for the staff, it must be horrible to try and live with the constant uncertainty.
Out of interest I do wonder what would happen if there was no stadium option for Wigan Warriors.

| I feel sorry for the staff and some of the fans. However not those who will still try and blame Wigan Warriors for this in some way, shape or form. They frequent this site, so for clarity, Bullitt & Bickymon, I mean you.
In their warped mind It'll be our fault for not paying £3m a season in rent, opening a fan zone instead of having everyone buy food and drink in the DW, not paying additional rent for using floodlights for evening games etc etc.

The one that pees me off is their comparison that Hull/Huddersfield pay 1million compared to our approx 650,000
Hull and Huddersfield use the complete facilities at their respective stadiums 7 days a week, 365 days a year etc whilst we use it for approx 8hrs on matchdays maybe 13/14 days a year.
That's why the costs are so different and in some ways I'm not sure 55k for 8hrs is that good a deal.
When I heard they'd charged Sam Powell 55k for his testimonial let's just say I wasn't impressed.
Maybe if they were more open, happy to work together from the off rather than pandering to the knuckle daggers with talk of blue seats and renaming stands etc then things may/could have been different
As it is Wigan have invested hundreds and hundreds of thousands into developing Robin Park and reaping the benefits whilst owning the risk involved in that.

| The stadium will be on freecycle soon. Who else is going to have it other than us? No point in paying anything for it. It will be there for anybody who wants to take it. What a delicious twist of fate it would be if their precious blue seats end up being a sea of red ones I am loving their misery. All the garbage we have had to endure. They couldn't even be respectful when Uncle Mo passed away. As Gareth says...... F*ck em!

They'll be insufferable when Whelan dies. I'm already dreading the day and the absolute guff we'll see, especially in the ever increasingly Latics centric Wigan Today.
If we ever get that tin pot stadium, sod the seat colour - the 1st that needs to go is that stupid statue. Get it replaced with a big one of Maurice standing tall.

| I will always remember the "towns turning blue mantra" granted some seats have but not much else.
Great idea of a Maurice statue would put a smile on my face so much.
Maybe the tics would find their natural level because in all honesty and I say this with love in my heart Wigan Athletic are a fantastic pub team.

Maybe charge rent on it, then if payment isnt forthcoming, slap an eviction notice on it, and even get the "Cant Pay, we'll take it away" cameras down to see them topple it like Saddam's statue. Perhaps even invite Bullitt down to hit the statue with his shoe?
