I like him. Bloody better than Goulding as a centre too

Goulding is without doubt the most natural centre at the club. He's not got the power of Gelling, the size of Thornley or the pace or footwork of Sarginson but on top form he's still better then all three. His awareness of what's happening around him is good and he's a wingers centre that looks to give them space.

In saying all that though his form hadn't been good enough this season. He played better the other night but he still needs to lift it some more if he's to get his regular spot pace.

Ok second attempt at posting this (you would never know I was a first time poster)

Sarge had a stormer and looked very dangerous when attacking the flanks (even more so than bowen sometimes) however the 3 mistakes at play of ball means my MoM after Charnley would have been Faz without a doubt, he made so many meters after collision, very few mistakes in defense, tackled like a deamon plus a couple of tries.

Goulding played his best game this season, with the Sarge has the footwork, Gelling and Thornley have the size and power but Goulding has the ability to release the winger. The best out of the four imo depends on the opposition and if Goulding plays like he did on Wed every game he still is essential to Wigan.

However if Wane can get any of the other three to a point where they can make more space for the winger rather than just meters his starting spot may very well be in more trouble.

People seem to completely ignore the fact that he has had a knee injury for most of the season and the club have been managing this. There have been games when he has played and he really shouldnt have done. Even on Wednesday it still didnt seem right at times.

Good post. Gelling catches the eye of many for his bullocking runs dragging men with him in the tackle but he's not a wingers centre yet. I agree about Faz. He was very good and his support play top notch.

I sometimes wonder if Faz might not make a good centre. He looks great in the back row against sides like Widnes but against a big pack he tends to get beaten up a bit in the pack whereas he's plenty big enough for centre and has the pace.

But is a terrible passer of the ball Dave...that's when he bothers to pass in the first place! Great running 2nd row but nothing like good enough hands or decision making for the centres.
