Agreed - the big difference between the two sides IMO is the conditioning and defence. The Wigan defence reminds me of how Saints were back in 2006 and the majority of 2007. Awesome defence does invariably lead to winning rugby league matches. I pointed out to my old man the difference between the size of the Wigan players compared to the size of the Saints players. Seems to me that Saints conditioning isn't quite up to the standard it should be to be able to compete against bigger and stronger sides such as Wigan, Wire and Huddersfield. Saints really do have to look at that and start to add some size and strength to the players especially with Graham leaving next season.
Indeed Saints didn't play that badly. They tried hard and gave it their best shot. They managed to hold a good Wigan side to 32 points and keep the score respectable. Unfortunately it really was men against boys though.
