Quote ="Wigan/Leeds Andy"Yes he does have a responsibility.
BUT
That responsibility is when it is prudent and right to do so. For example, the Gleeson situation was handled in the right way for me - when it comes to an employee's personnel issues you can't play these out in open. Some people seem to think that just because someone is a rugby player they seem to lose their right to confidentiality when it comes to disciplinary and other HR matters.'"
They don't but that wasn't what the issue was. No one expects to know the gory details but rather the issue was why was it taking so long? It really doesn't take very long to sack anyone who has breached any clubs rules sufficiently to sack them and the fact he has signed for Hull gives lie to two of the reasons given he left, injury and time out of the game. That leaves minor disciplinary issue. It's been a bit of a screw up if you ask me and had the club just been able to sack him we would have seen this happen much sooner.
Quote With regard to Madge it's still at an early stage, all speculation and if the club responded to every rumour they wouldn't get anything done. If the move to Souths is true if I was Lenegan I wouldn't say anything official until the next coach was agreed and release it at the same time. Maybe he's thinks it might be too soon for Waney and needs to deal with that as the last thing we want is both Madge and Waney leaving.'"
The trouble with complete silence in the face of such strong rumours is people begin to ascribe things like poor performances to the fact the coach is leaving and so on. Also IL is not totally in control of the situation in that Souths (if they sign Madge) may well make an announcement. There comes a time when silence is more counter productive than saying something. I think we have got there with the Souths rumour. In particular since there is no denial over the rumour everyone assumes Madge is off and its all doom and gloom. It's all over the press and its not a minor issue like the kind we see over "are we signing player X".
Quote With regard to fans forums, maybe he's just thinks it's a waste of time given the number of muppets who seem to turn up to these things and ask stupid questions. You just know that if there is one this season, Lenegan will say that he can't say anything in detail about the Gleeson situation but that the first 10 questions will want to know the reasons why.'"
Perhaps he doesn't like handling the awkward questions and only wants to dish out good news? I mean if Madge does leave I think its a legitimate question to ask as to how someone the club stated has a three year deal for 2010, 2011 and 2012 was able to to so. If it turns out there was a get out clause or it never was a straight three year deal he could clear that up. He'd not look very smart having to admit that was so but at least it would be honest and people might actually believe what the club says in future because at the moment you simply can't do that.
