| Id be surprised if that yellow which surely should have been a red card isnt looked at this week by the powers that be. Good well structured performance with some well worked tries.Thought we were a little fortunate Batley kept dropping it in our twenty early on and didnt test our defence more with the big lumps up the middle.Mr Morris deserved the plaudits needlees to say.

| Pronto, agree well structured and players actually playing for each other. Still a few mistakes but is that due to an expansive approach being adopted. Felt we got away with a few bits of play other teams may have punished. A good win, just need to follow it up next week and on.

| Yes still a few mistakes, but currently here in the Super League Top 8 there are plenty of mistakes, it is more like tick rugby at times. Some promise from our players.
Nice that a few of us are still interested in rugby league and not continually knocking the club and it's owner? suppose it keeps them off the streets as they seem to do nothing else.

| I felt that he team played well against what is a very large pack. Nice to see Daniel Harrison back. Thought Matt Davis played well too.
A good win which can only give the team confidence. Will be interesting to see how they perform against Feathterstone next week.
I expect a good performance there too. Hendo seems to have got things going in the right direction and using majority of players who will be around next year.

| Thought they played very well, batley were disgraceful at times and the headshot at Barthau was a red card. referee was pathetic.
Barthau is beginning to look a good buy!

| One for the refs here. Just before point of impact a slight swerve threw the attacker off balance as he attempted to react. As such he was going slightly backwards and would inevitably throw an arm a bit higher than usual in an attempt to regain balance. Does that give the referee grounds not to produce a red as I'd be struggling to argue it was reckless or intentional? More a horrible set up circumstances that saw the laws of physics and anatomy come into play.
Have to say I enjoyed myself and will certainly be buying some sort of membership. Frankly getting away from all the hopeless ins and outs of the clubs day to day running for a while left me returning and just enjoying rugby league. It's a personal decision but I'd advise those saying they will never return to take a while out and then take in one match. I do understand if anyone feels it is too late. I suspect I unintentionally timed my absence well in terms of missing a lot of the most worrying days.
Finally a hat tip to Tony Benson who took a gamble moving a competent level three centre / wing to full back after he had only played a few RL games. I feared it was too soon to put a convert in such a key position. I was wrong and the rest of the story is quite literally Broncos history.

| Halfdan, I missed the game as was up at Salford doing some games up there so cant comment. Whatever the circumstances it is the defenders responsibility to avoid contact with the head. Sometimes the "instinctive" arm out and grab at the head can be the worst ones, its all down to the judgement of the ref at the time and how he and the TJ's see the incident, did the ref blow straight away? did the TJ come on? As you say it is all about judgement there is nothing to say it should be a red, but if its seen to be reckless and intenional or dangerous then the ref has the option to dismiss.
A slight swerve and reaction falling backwards bringing the arm up sounds a bit dubious to me. Obviously the ref on the day did not deem it to be serious enough to send him off

| Cheers, hope you enjoyed the forces game.
Yes Jamie blew straight away. Waited for treatment and consulted both touchies at length. Whether right or wrong this was a considered opinion not a panic reaction. The touchie by the West Stand was in the perfect position to call the swerve and tumble.
I think reckless or intentional are out due to the attempt to correct from the stumble however it was definitely dangerous. If that is sufficient for red then I'm not sure how it became a sin binning tbh.

| What hasn't been mentioned is that Barthau was clean in for a try if he hadn't had his head taken off. No other defender could have got to him. From the stand it did look suspiciously like the prevention of a try through deliberate foul play.

| You never seem to see officials giving penalty tries these days, why? are they afraid to make a tough decision without the video ref?

| One of the downsides of video refs, the actual ref cops out and puts it on report rather than make a decision

Those that are given only seem to be for fouls which take place on or over the try line. Barthau had no one else to beat, but the fact he was still 20 metres out counted against him.
Fwiw it appeared a clear red card even if one gives the full back the benefit of the doubt that it was merely careless or reckless.

Unfortunately it is an area where the refs can never win. I can remember in the early super league days we had a prop called Gavin Allen, who was sent off two weeks on the trot. Both times he went to the judiciary. Both time he was found not guilty. That did not really help though as we had to play parts of two games with only 12 on the pitch.

Probably protects the rest of us but no help at all to the initial victim.

| To award a penalty try the ref has to be fully convinced that the offence denied a certain try! Judging that is very interesting, was the world cup in Australia def a penalty try? that could be debated to the Nth degree.
Looking at some of the video replays on sky there is probably good evidence for more 8 point tries!!
20 mtrs out, you could not give a penalty try for.

True - saw an incident many years ago where a player had a clear run to the line from about 20 metres out, nobody could catch him. Certain try. Until his shorts fell down.
