Just read on facebook that our former player Tony Martin has announced his retirement from Rugby League.

Wasn't he something like 17 when he made his debut for us having come over from Brisbane Broncos?

He could have done a job for us this season.

Looks like injury has made him call time. Good luck to the guy.

No doubt there will be soon be an announcement that we have given him a 2 year contract.

Great to have followed Tony since his first started playing in our Academy then see him make his first team debut! a pleasure to know him, I wish Tony every success in his future.

Wish we could have had him for a third spell after he left the Warriors, top bloke.

Even old and injured, Tony would still be better than our centre options!

This is true and shows what dire centre options we have had this season.

I remember Tony playing for us in 96 when still a junior. A truly committed and talented player in both his spells for us.

Yes, he was just 17 when he went straight into the main team. He always wore an orange skull cap. He was a lovely person and a great player. Best of luck on his retirement - and for the rest of his life. A great servant to the club when he played for us.

When my son and daughter were young kids Tony Martin chatted to them both after a match at Griffin Park my son, Bill made us go to the next match the following week, he shouted out "Good Luck Tony". as the Broncos ran out, Tony Martin stopped, turned round and said "Thanks Bill"

What a nice guy! you should of seen his face.

My son is 21 now and is still an RL fan although has been infected by the dull, round ball game.

Spoke to him after the away Crusaders match last season - was looking for a club so I guess Broncos didn't want him - or not at his agents price. Good player.

There was an article on BnA tonight about Tony- he has played for London, Crusaders, Auckland, Melbourne and not surprisingly is in favour of expansion clubs!
