OK I actually have no complaints about the final result and in fact i think it flatteres us a wee bit

My view on it, out muscled in the first half, out thought in the second half

Rubbish defence down the middle in the first 40, ok the 90mtr try for cats was a lucky break for them
Second half, again a good come back when it looked like we were dead and buried, no arguement with the head shot we gave away to level the scores, why oh why did we not think about the 1 point when we were in the position and why no pressure on the kicker.
We could have won it though!

Team performance, Dorny solid again and a good try saver in the first half, and still chasing the high ball which is good

Dissapointing performance in my mind today

Desparately poor first half performance. There was one period after we scored our try when Catalans were slightly on the back foot and being heavily penalised, but poor passing, poor decision making and poor defence allowed them to get a foothold back in the game and we were in deep trouble.

The second half revival - perhaps a sign of Rob Powell really earning his money as a motivator (?) was promising, but still did not mask some further errors and appalling attempts at tackling. Positives - Gale, Ellis, Ward, Bryan.

Right, for me, Good game I guess, first half we were appalling, didn't balem sa couple of supporters booing them, especially for Catalans last try, was woeful. Defense stepped up a bit in the second, i say a bit, not dramatically, and was still woeful at times. I was getting constantly frustrated at the amoutn of metres the Catalans were making without even having to work for them, our defense isn't moving up, its letting them come to it, they need to move up as a unit, letting them make too many cheap metres, and letting them get down the other end of the field too easily. Not quite sure what is going on with our defense at times, our attacking play was alright, kicking was improved, our last try was worked well, but the Catalans defense was soft.
JAMIE GOT A TRY! AND HE STAYED ON HIS TOUCHLINE TO DO IT! Must be reading my reports, he played well, still made many metres in field, he's solid and I like the guy.
Our Attacking thought pattern is awful, isnt it? They don't know what to do, look clueless, especially when the Catalans winger was injured, they need to run at him, instead they take the ball to the other side of the pitch where their defenders outnumbered our attacking numbers. It is woeful. We need a 7 that will control our team, not Randall, Randall said himself on BBC London this week, (Which i heard on the way back from the game, on the podcast) he was asked about how he liked being at 7, and he said his game is to just follow the ball, we don't need another guy running after it, we need someone at first reciever who is spotting the gaps, and spotting where the defense is, and taking the ball in the right direction, which he doesn't do. He's a hooker. I keep going on and on about this, so i might as well stop.
Dorn, god, er, took the high balls well, went flying around a couple of times when attempting to make his 1v1 tackles, not exactly the most solid FB defensively, is he? Least he's not as bad as BJB was

Melling needs to come into the game more for me, doesn't do a lot of work, occasionally will take the ball up and make a few metres.
Clubb, solid performance, good running game which he showed for Gale's try and another time, but dropped the ball in the last few minutes which gave it back to them, and eventually Howell gave the penalty away.
Howell, stop giving away penalties in the last part of the game! Of course they'd go for 2, solid performance though, seems to be playing within himself which isn't great.

Gale, good game, dropped the ball a couple of times, and a few loose passes, but he tried.
Randall, ... already commented, but he put in a few good kicks.
Ward, I assume he isnt 100% fit with his back spasim's last week, didn't do too much really, didn't make many metres.
Ellis, solid game, his running game is better than his passing game atm.
Wilkes, occasionally will make metres in impact, but will also occasionally be driven back.
Bailey and Nick, performed well, as did Burnett and Ambler.
Was a shame we didn't see more of Williams, he made a few metres in the first half, but was taken off about 3 minutes into the second and didn't return.
Lamont played well, full of excitement, occasionally will make the metres.

Didn't get to the game today, Mrs from Erith has just come out of hospital so at home keeping an eye on her, it all seems to point to the defence doesn't it? Another 30 points scored at home and yet we lose - time to bring in a defence specialist to the coaching staff me thinks. Thought we'd get the better of Catalans today off the back of our draw with Cas, even put some money on it!Fool!
Hope that KR are in worse shape physically and psychologically after their defeat than we are.

kicking game was not too bad today!!
We do seem to suffer in an inability to meet the attacking player, we wait for them to come to us, Cats were making 10-15 mtrs each play we were making 5 and actually did not look like breaking the line or scoring
I do like the way Monty is playing, its a bit like LMS when he first started full of enthusiasm and excitement!

I was a bit annoyed and confused with the Howell head shot penalty and the way Mr Thaler handled it, no doubt it was a head shot even though the bloke ducked in to it, still a head shot, but all the players initially stopped waiting for the whistle which did not come, they then got started again and then when no score resulted he took em back to the incident!! I am all for allowing the advantage but we dont want to get to the RU situation when they go on for ages before going back to and incident, it was not close enough to the line to allow the game to run on as he did

not sure about the dig at Dorny for his defense?? he did not let in anythng easy today did he?? in fact I thought he was pretty solid

Thought it was really poor performance today, but we got what we deserved out of it - absolutley nothing.

Two things that bugged me:
1. No passion in the first half. You could see the players walking back slowly after the trys and whenever we had a scrum, we lacked passion and enthusiasm to form one, not to mention failure to attempt tackles. Left ourselves far too much to do again.

2. Well done on the comeback, however when we went in front I wasn't confident, given there were still ten minutes left. But what annoyed me was us failing to go for the drop, in the set before they did. As soon as it came to Dureau I knew what was coming, but the players didn't for some reason. After that we had a perfect chance to kick when we were right down their end, but did nothing on the last tackle.

Think we need to see some changes in the next game badly.

You really are kidding aren't you ? Dorn's 1 on 1 defence is woeful, he has absolutely no idea what to do and for professional player that is embarrassing. Take yesterdays last try, he swallow dived to avoid making the tackle, it was laughable. There were numerous examples in this game and of most games this season where that has happened. Sam Tomkins and Sean Briscoe both Dorn's size or smaller and yet both put their body on the line as full back AND can offer the same attacking threat. Whilst we are on 1 on 1 tackles, what was The Greek doing midfield when he missed Simon (?) who then went on to make 30m upfield and low and behold another try.

Make no mistake that was a poor Catalans side missing 5 or 6 key players and we were at full strength and we looked second rate. Our defence is inept. Our attack at times quite potent but it generally kicks in when we are too far behind to make it count. Our discipline and ball control and game savvy lacking in bucketfulls, yesterday we went ahead for the first time, we receive the ball from the kick off, all very routine, and what we need to do is play out a set of six, can we ? Can we heck, we lose the ball on the second tackle and I think soon after they get a penalty. And one last point - when we get a penalty 40m out, why do we insist on tapping it, rather than punting it within 10m of the opposition line? Are our forwards that devastating that we can afford such luxuries ?

Poor day, lets hope for better in Humberside.

Still reckon he offers something different and is an asset. they try he got stick for wasnt really his fault, it just looked bad.
He was isolated on a 3 on 1 and didnt let Cats get on the outside of him and away, what was poor was that nobody got across to help him out.

I don’t think we are a bad side- Other than Hudds no team has pressured our goal line constantly-Where we fall down is poor defence in the middle of the field allowing teams to score long distance tries- Once our line is penetrated we cant scramble- Wakey scored 5 long distance tries, Hull 2 Catalans possibly 5 yesterday. We move forward well, control the ball well, put teams where we want them and then blow it.

Our brand of rugby is good- in the past under Mac when a team had scored 20 points we were beat, that’s not the case this year.

There we two momentum shifts in the game yesterday, Randalls poor pass that was picked up of the floor and a 90 metre tried scored. The tackle before that we had broken them and they were beaten suddenly they score 3 tries and the games "gone".
The second game breaker was Clubby dropping the ball in our 20 near the end. We should have taken a safety set out of our 20 ie contact, knees, drive, contact knees instead of running in to the contact at 100MPH. From there they won the game

I do like Dorn, but his 1v1 is very poor. I remember the Hull game when the Hull player just handed him off and he went flying. He is good in attack, and great under the high ball but isnt 1v1 defence the main thing at full back?

darth! are you talking about the try in the second half when they scored down there right hand side with what was actually 3 on 2? errrrr if I remember correctly he turned his back twice on the attacker and made no effort to lay a hand on him, even when the bloke has crossed the line the try is not scored until he touches down, forcing the player on the outside would have been prefered it would have made the 2 points after harder!

He made 1 tackle!!!!!! leaving the other blokes round him to make the effort, even when 2 other blokes made a tackle he could have come in and added weight but to be honest he could not be d!!!

The loss of the ball on the second tackle after we had just gone in to the lead was shocking, I love forwards running hard at the defence but in that situation ball retention was all that was needed, run the ball out play out the 6 and kick deep and make them score from 80 out.

Appreciate that it is the holiday season and some folks will be doing other activities this weekend but an attendance of 2069 must be very disappointing given the fact that the weather is so nice????

Catalans winger injured. He could hardly stand. So we attack the other wing . RP must have had his head in his hands. Pryce could have walked in for a try.

Could not agree more. Vaccari couldn't walk let alone run, bizarre that Catalans left him on for so long. Unforgivable that we spent all the time he was injured deliberately attacking the other wing!

Our defensive line speed lacked intensity AGAIN. And at one point we had 3 penalties in a row, marched up field to their 20 in no time, had them on the back foot, and what do we do on the first tackle? bomb it. Knock on. Too much cheap turnover which points to a lack of skill consistency and ergo a poor skill level. Frustrating, especially when we have an England winger bench warming.

If we can't raise our intensity and concentration soon it will be another nothing season.
