... and I was wondering who Karl T Cook was.

No, he plays at FB for the Eels, but the Aussies have him on the wing at the moment as they feel Billy is better in that position.

How does that work? He hasn't played a game for the Cook Islands for several years.

He is from the Cook Islands, so if they see him as there best player over the last year then thats up to them, whether he's played for them this season or not is irrelevent, hense Hayne being Fiji's player of the year.

But this whole player of the year is a farce, how is Blanch Ireland's player of the year?
Hasn't he spent over half of the season out injured?

Blanch was probably Ireland's best player at the World Cup, got a few tries I think.

The world cup was last year.

Is the awrd for the season or the calendar year? If the latter then the World Cup would be counted no?

There was a golden boot awarded to Billy Slater after the WC, so i don't think this includes the WC, that's my opinion on this anyway
