Quote Quins have already got the ball rolling for next season, with Blanchard revealing the club will face Melbourne Storm in February, host a London double-header in June and re-run the successful Summer at the Stoop project from last year.'"
Now is it just me or is anyone else also struggling to think what was successful about the Summer at the Stoop project? As I recall we lost every game and the crowds got worse and worse for each one. At least we can console ourselves that we won't have a re-run of the successful George Sampson project.
This sounds like another piece of spin, such as “we only sign quality players” line and the ridiculous end of season review "written" by Brian McDermott.
Blanchard then adds that our support is “
in many ways long-suffering”. I'm struggling to think of the ways in which we are not “long-suffering”. Our last successful season climaxed standing on the terraces at Odsal on a cold Friday autumnal evening cheering on the team as Bradford piled on nearly 50 points and put us out of the play offs in the first round. In the four years since we haven't made the play offs or a even a cup semi final, let alone a final.
Now there's obviously the possibility he was mis-quoted or mis-understood, but this quote strikes me as being far to pessimistic:
Quote We have already hit our overseas quota and we are never going to be able to go out and make a high-profile signing, so for us it is all about improving the overall standard'"
Why as we've been able to make high profile signings in the past. The cap is a flat rate for all clubs, so we should be aiming to spend it all. Never is for an awful long time and it makes me question the long term ambition.
