Now we've passed the deadline so we may start hearing news about the 2010 squad.

Ian "Rammo" Ramsdale mentioned on the podcast last week we would be getting some news this week, so what do we know?

Lets look at the targets:
[1 Oli Wilkes - Believed to have offered him a contract.
[2 Rich Whiting - Rumoured to have been offered a contract, but has since signed another year with Hull.
[3 Ryan Esders (currently on loan). Ian Ramsdale mentioned he would sign. From posts of the Hull KR forum, it appears we have offered him a 2 year deal.
[4 James Nixon. Apparently a target but looking likely to stay with Barrow.
[5 Chris Thorman. Has been linked with us. No further details.

To me it seems like we have targeted a lot of National League and middle of the road super league players and some have turned us down. This makes me worried… hopefully we have other targets lined up. I'd love to think we can manage a bit more than the usual “make do and mend” approach to squad recruitment this year, but on the evidence presented so far, well…

Gibson worth a look too IMO.

Priority for me is shipping out Williamson and Robinson (but happy to keep Robbo if he stays fit), a decent standoff with Dorn being utilised elsewhere, and some strong second rowers & props. And another winger.r

He is IMO too! But this is the list we have been linked with and as we haven't been linked with him I can't put him down, sadly.



We need a centre as well. Maybe we should have a word with UKBA re: messers Chad Williamson and Luke Robinson, see what they can do…!

Those 2 have been woeful considering they were our big buys. Golden has been far more effective than both of them. Hopefully they have suffered first year blues which some Aussies tend to get ala King etc and will get better.(cant see it though- You cant coach speed)

Sculthorpe would improve us but Im not sure BM would risk it with his off field issues.

Balls to off-field issues. we need players who can make an impact on the pitch. who cares about the rest

Plays prop as well.

His known off field issues are having a couple of shandies on the team bus on the way home. I'm sure mcdermot can cope with that.

I think he's a very gifted player. Great offloader which is what we need as none of the other props can offload (or does BM not let them) so we never have that second phase of play that other clubs get which gets them upfield another 20 meters off the same tackle or near the line gets a try. BM can sign him for me.
