| He seems to have no control of what the players do on the pitch. The players look knackered compared to our opponents and just don't seem to want to win apart from ten minute spells. The number of points conceded in the last 5 mins of each half is laughable (if it was no so sad). Some of the play today was schoolboy errors. Is anyone going to take responsibility or does it not matter.
Mr McDermott only you can explain it, and we deserve an explanation.

You ask, "Has Brian lost the plot?"
The answer - based on the outcome of recent games - surely has to be yes.
However, I wouldn't hold your breath for a contribution to this forum from Brian himself. I don't think he sees any value in communicating with fans.
I'd love to be proved wrong, though.

| I think they have a group mentality.
They move up slowly off the line as a group.
They miss tackles as a group.
They run round in circles like headless chickens as a group.
etc...
It works both ways.
We need some stronger, more vocal characters. Danny Williams, Jim Dymock and a couple of other players in the past would not have stood for this. It's embarrassing and I refuse to desert the club, but I attend out of duty rather than for entertainment.

| Listy will like this thread won't he.
We haven't played entertaining all year, apart from the Warrington game, and Leeds away? Hull KR away, but thats about it.
We've been playing boring rugby, and i've put up with it as i thought we would win games, but really we've lost 9 in 10? I think, i'm not sure.
I agree with PTB, we need a more vocal character on the pitch. Someone with experience. Williamson and Robinson have experience, but are they vocal?
LMS seems to be our most vocal player, alot of the time you see him shouting after the other team has scored.
Brian needs to sort out the team, because im losing faith in them. No heart, no pride.

I agree with you PTB. Purdo is a great player but as a captain leads by example. We need someone to gee them up and motivate on the pitch. Their headless chicken routine is painfull to watch but will continue untill someone out there gets a grip. BM can sit in the stand like the rest of us staring in disbelief but untill he gets some real men out there who find this rubbish unacceptable we will continue to drift around like a dingy in at sea.

The ground announcer was spot on when he said, as we were leaving our seats at half-time, that there was now going to be "some entertainment". I can't have been the only one who thought that I'd been watching the wrong part of the show.

| The problem is not so much with BM but with the players not doing basic skills. I have watched a couple of training sessions and I have been surprised with the amount of time players have spilled the ball when doing simple tasks out on the training pitch. A change of coach would make do difference, the basic facts are that some of the current first team are no more than average or worse no longer SL standard. What is been seen on the pitch at the moment is seen during training and no wonder BM has no answer. The simple truth is the players on the pitch are not up to the task.
For me the rot set in at Wakefield when we lost in the dying seconds due to school boy errors and failing to defend what was a winning position. I believe from that game we suffered mental damage and the will to compete in SL. At the Cats game away a couple of the players walked off at the end and did not come over to acknowledge the fans. I thought this was odd at the time and put down to the heat but who knows lack of interest and not wanting to be playing?
Further we have failed to fill the gaps left by Hill and Paul who provided creativity and solid defending. My view is that Gafa and Dorn have been very poor and should be off loaded. Wells is too slow on the wing and plays better at FB. Williamson and Robinson no go forward or pace (over here for a holiday) Sharp can't defend high balls and tends to panic under pressure (maybe reason for only being offered a 1 year contract). As for the young ones they are trying and still developing but hell in the present team it is one hell of a big ask.

| Orr has built his career on being a running stand-off hitting gaps and scoring tries. As has Dorn. We need a half that can kick and organise. Priority number 1. Our kicking game was atrocious yesterday and bad kicks just deflate the team and makes individuals try and do impossible things and force errors to try and make the yards. Id love a Deacon type half to play alongside Orr/Dorn, it makes everyone's job so much easier when you have a Briers/Deacon/Dobson on the pitch putting the ball where you want it time and time again.

....and one with the least individual skill set. He has gone backwards this year. He tackles with his arms rather than his shoulders and allows the opposition to get over him. He struggles to put bigger players on the floor. He doesn't run onto the ball, more takes it standing still. He's certainly not an enforcer type prop and for me isnt feared by the opposition(other than for his speed). His game-time has deteriorated probably due to his increase in bulk which rules him out of being a second row which he could certainly play if he were to improve his skills.
He has been a real dissapointment this year, as has Clubby(please dont tell me he got an int cap)
