STAPLETON BANNED

Salford's Craig Stapleton has been suspended for one match after being sent off for foul and abusive language following his side's defeat by Catalans Dragons last Friday.

Prop Stapleton, who has also been fined £300, was dismissed by referee Phil Bentham for comments made soon after the final hooter of the engage Super League clash at The Willows.

Salford were beaten 18-16 after a last-minute try from Casey McGuire.

Stapleton, 30, who is leaving the club at the end of the season, will miss the Reds' trip to Harlequins on Saturday.

Coach Shaun McRae said: "We don't condone it any way. You can think what you want, but don't say it."

Bugger! looks like an excellent day on paper but I'm working all weekend!! Time to make sure the laptop has a full charge!!!!!

What a shame! Stapleton is one of the game's true characters.

He's been a top pro for us.

To be honest for a professional like him, and lets be fair he's been around in the game on both sides of the world for long enough, he's a player that's always fair, doesn't get into any aggro with the opposition and is rarely penalised, so you've got to wonder how bad the ref was to get him so annoyed as to come from the bench at the end of the game and snap at him.

I'm not condoning him for his actions by the way but it makes you think....

I dare say this has happend (and been asked) all season or at least a few times but when did you guys start kicking off at 3pm. We're setting of at around 8am to get down there throw our bags in the hotel and "[iget on it[/i"



My main concern is it's the first day of the Premier league and of course the Championship has kicked off, as BroncOnIon has posted on the Turkey it's the Twickenham 7's I'm more than a little worried about traffic issues.

I know you guys have to travel to us on a Friday and thus have to take a day off but you do have 'til 8PM to get to the game

How are you travelling and where are you staying???

I doubt the 7's will make too much difference other than for parking as the first game is 10am so people will arrive over the course of the day.

We're driving down and staying in Brentford....old habits die hard I suppose

If you are driving there are road works on the M25 between the M4 and M40 which will slow you down a bit also M25 tends to be slow between the M4 and M3 junctions.

Traffic in the Twickers area will be hit and miss. just looked on the Quins RL site and they say parking at the Stoop is limited on Saturday. All other car parks are under the control of the 7's organisers, so they say. Pricing may be a bit iffy!

Nope.....267 from Brentford to Twickenham gets re-routed when there are things going on at RUHQ.
The best way is to get a 65 bus the other way to Richmond, have a couple of beers there and then jump on the train to Twickenham. If you are feeling fitter, you can walk from Richmond to Twickenham stopping at the occasional ale house...it's about 3 miles (and 6 pubs)

Perhaps the best thing would be the the 3pm kick-off also be moved to the Richmond College pitch.......am certain both sets of supporters would like the idea of 'standing' really close to the 'action', unless it rains that is!!

While on the subject of next season's game day......well the Club has tried both Saturday and Sunday plus even sometimes Friday with little real increase so for 2010 let's be 'original' and become the first Superleague team to 'do it on Monday nite'......after all the NRL play one game a week on that day.

.....what have QRL to lose,,,,,,,a few away fans.....but it will show who the real 'hardcore' supporters really are. Think a 750 to 860 gate would be great.

However, should add that after 29 seasons as a 'regular' at our many grounds have had enough and will not be wasting anymore cash on a season ticket. The club as it is at present - in name, in management, in player quality and in 'ownership' - a disgrace to the name of rugby league.

Would rather spend my money travelling to Perpignan three/four times a season to watch the Catalan play top 'homeland' teams in front of knowledgeable fans that having to sit in the East Stand among the current idiots that are our fan base watching a second grade squad offering poor quality entertainment.

So bye bye all of you.......in particular the 'majority' for whom the 'great game' is a secondary sport......and as such can never become 'real' supporters.
