More to the point, how is he likely to ref the game......is he going to apply the rules or let the game `flow` like last week at Huddersfield???

We were pants last week and deserved to loose, but I find the ref`s latest interpretation of what rules do/do not apply totally confusing (as must all the players).........waving play on for just about anything and everything, extra sets of six for nothing, ignoring forward passes etc etc.....it makes a mockery of the game.

I am often surprised at how lenient both codes are about this.

Time and again (admittedly watching with the benefit of TV replays) you see a try and in the build up you can spot a pass that is miles forward. I suppose in mitigation you can say that these things tend to level out over the course of a season.

Stevo`s momentum rule has a lot to answer for!!!

Can`t say that I support the theory that `things will even out` over the course of a game or season....this is just wishful thinking. A couple of fortunate/unfortunate decisions can completly turn a game (or season). The ref`s have a rule book.....this is what they should apply and their performance judged on (this will certainly be the case when the video ref facility is available to them), they should not be able to change/ignore the rules on some non-sensical whim and then revert to the rules when it suits.

Hopefully this is just another one of those early season `ref`s directives` which will peter out as the year progresses.

From what I have seen of him so far this season he has been superb.

Most people I have come across who slag him off seem to have a problem with him just because he is French. He was poor on occasions in the past but is far more confident now and has come on leaps and bounds IMO.

I can assure you that my opinion of him has nothing what so ever to do with his nationality. If he was green and from mars I wouldn't give a toss. What I do dislike is a man who on last weeks effort clearly is out of his depth.

His handling of the Hull Cas game was simply shocking. Maybe he had stage fright in front of such a large crowd.

Nothing to do with him being French, just useless. for example, Cas complete a set of 6, he signals turnover, Cas player hands ball over to Hull payer and Allibert runs back into the hull line and tries to take them back the 10m.

Great.

Again, when I have seen him he is been excellent. Get over it.

Not atall, I'm moaning about him cos he's crap.

We lost the game due to Tickle converting 1 from 4, Horne bolloxing a drop goal at the end and numerous other players droping the ball at various times.

Still, least we managed to beat Hudds.

I like him even more now

i would say no, he was useless last week, ( and no not the reason we lost that was our own faults ) he didnt even know when it was handover.

One thing about Thaler, it is the lowest penalty count I have seen this season.And forward passes (by both teams) were ignored, players not getting back onside were ignored. In his defence he was the same for both teams, and at least it was not stop and start for minor things.
And Quins will beat Hull this week, it was only that Huddersfield were up in your faces and our defence was spot on, Quins look quite strong to me.

The dates are Monday 30th March and Monday April 6th and the times are from 7pm until 9.30pm. Session 1 will be theory based and session 2 will be practical. The cost is £15 per head and it is the foundation course. Its great for people wanting to become a match official as well as those who just want to understand more about the laws of the game.
