| Hope you get some positive news on Friday,as I,ve said on here before I enjoy coming down for the Quins games and have had many a chat with fans in and around the ground, before during and after games.
If as has been mentioned somewhere on here the RFL have forced IL to relinquish his shares, are they being given to Hughes,or just held to give him full control,or indeed has he found a buyer to share in the investment.
What most of the other Guests that come on here and post about your place in SL should realise that very few SL clubs run at a profit,IN fact I think this year MY team are the only ones doing so.
Without the likes of messrs Hughes ,Lenaghan,Davey etc pumping money in very few would be viable on the crowds that are coming through the turnstiles, and most are just grasping at straws because promises were made in the last franchise round and they were not acted on.Now it looks like the chickens are coming home to roost they get all indignant.
Best of luck and see you next year.

Only my opinion of course, but I don't think it's actually much to do with the product on the field (as bad as that has been at times) and more to do with the continued mismanagement of the club, the feeling that there is no serious plan for the future, that it's just lurching from one week to the next. :1ki7z39gPeople can put up with poor performances, but the sense that the club is actually dieing and yet completely unable to recognise that fact and act upon it, is something else. This really is last chance saloon, no doubt about that. The starting point is that attendances need to improve and soon. | What intrigues me is that the provision that the RFL can force someone to dispose of their shareholding in a club would seem to really exist. A certain person not unconnected with the non appearance of Stevo as coach and us nearly losing Struddy before he arrived was talking about this in the late eighties but I tended to ignore him as it was connected with his personal vendetta against Roy Close.

I can't buy into this - people drifting away because of the mis management of the club. Liverpool FC are being mis managed big time but they still get full houses, anti glazer faction at Man U set up another club but Man U still get full houses. Wigan under Mo for the last years would seem to be mismanaged but attracted big crowds.
How has the club been mismanaged? It seems to me that with the resources available they have put out the best team they could but in Gutterfaxs world that meant that there was no money to invest in the m word and build crowds that way. Now there is an arguement that a winning team more than marketing would increase crowds but that is a whole new debate. So mis management? If that means an underesourced back office and systems then yes I would agree - but I guess what money there has been has gone to the team.
I would tend to agree with Homers later post - people's lives change and other priorities come along, coupled with an unsuccessful team and the club not being ingrained in people.
Myself - I love the game and would obviously prefer us to be winning, but the love of the game means I carry on.

Not sure what you mean as I believe it is simple and there is no intrigue at the least? any governing body can have it's own rules and bye-laws and if you sign up to them, then you are deemed to accept them and should adhere to them. Do the Premiership not have the same ruling and no one in football seems to get upset about it?
IL was given a time period to dispose of his share in the club, during that time he made no financial input as far as we are aware, meanwhile DH was left to carry all of the burden with his much lesser share. Is sport not like any business owning shares in any company is a risk and you accept that. The Radio Station I worked all my career for was the first to float on the market at around £6 and at one time they dropped to at under 50p, many staff panicked and sold at 75p, some were wise and then bought in even more in there thousands and made a killing when in time the recovered. No it is right that IL should be forced to dispose and he should accept he is not going to get top dollar, it does not help when their is little assets!
The period you go on to talk about is pre-Super League and the game was run much differently then.

This from a (self-proclaimed) marketing expert is quite ridiculous. Any supporter going away is a loss.
Quote
The average gate for a london RL game since 2000 is 3,607.
The highest average in those 11 seasons was as Harlequins in 2006...the lowest was 3,232 as The Broncos in 2001.
The core support at Harlequins RL has pretty much stayed the same over the 11 years......some have drifted, some have left the country, but true fans never stop supporting their team.'"
The numbers may be about the same, but the people aren't. Of the bunch of people, all of them committed season ticket holders for a number of seasons, who used to sit in the same patch as I did a Brentford, only about 25% now attend. Yes, some of them have moved to other parts of the country, but many haven't, they've just given up on the club. If we'd retained all of those and you could apply the same percentages across other supporters, we'd have regular gates of 5,000 now (which was always Nic Cartwright's Holy Grail).
Ah says g'fax, these were not "true fans". Total rubbish!

| Back on thread...........none of us know quite what will be announced on Friday.
I am as guilty as many others for moaning and groaning about the club`s situation, but whatever our plight David Hughes deserves to be given our full support and we should show our appreciation on Friday. The man has given so much to keep this club afloat over the years, can we not for once drop the marketing debate from a thread and focus on the huge positive which is David Hughes..........you can market all you like but no DH = no club.

| Pete Winkelman is looking for year round use of Stadium MK & as such has bought the club & is moving it to Milton Keynes where it will be renamed as MK Quins. As a sop to the london based fans a new club will be started up playing in Championship1.
I really, really hope I'm wrong though as i've had some enjoyable trips to the Stoop

It's silly to compare the club to Liverpool or Manure. If they lose a bunch of fans, for whatever reason, there are thousands of others waiting for the chance to buy tickets in their place.
Quins mismanagement has been constant and enduring. It's the only thing this club actually does well. Every week there are examples on this very board, some petty and some ridiculous, but some of them have been downright abysmal from the club. Fans moan but usually forget about it, until eventually it builds to the point where they realise that the club is going nowhere and they're simply wasting their time. That's when they decide to watch Leeds v Huddersfield on sky instead of going to the Stoop. From there it's a short journey to not bothering with the season ticket and just picking and choosing games. Then they realise they haven't been at all that season. Then they're lost to the club.

| Think PP has it right. Reckon it will just be a case of we've got another season.
Problem is, it's so late in the day to be able to build a squad for next year, I worry that the team will be as weak as this year and we'll end up in the same boat.
Still, at least it sounds like the Mighty Quins will be around for everyone to moan about!

| Can I just say I really hope things work out for you. I'm not sure if the tie up with Quins was the best move for you but you will have a much better insight into that than I.
The trip to your club is always one of most Wigan fans highlights of the year, in fact second only to Catalan. Again good luck and I hope it is a positive announcement.

The Quins move WAS the best move for us and in fact, the only option for us. IMO anyway.
