Mr Hughes gives the club 2 million a year and insists on us wasting it year on year.....what Mr Hughes needs to do is give us the 2 million and then let the club build with it rather than simply waste it year in year out.....

| Hear hear to that. Shame this has fell into a one on one in the last few days but I don’t see CMG saying I told you so here. Yes we are where we are, but action is urgently needed to prepare for a non Hughes future, and only David can do that,

| Don't think anyone denies that new investment is required for the club to thrive. Everyone seems to assume that our current owner is doing nothing to plan for his departure. I just can't see the point of constant whinging and whining about past decisions and choices.
Like I say unless one of us wants to step up with a couple of million each year he is what we have.
As for suggestion that he should just give the club the money and have no input to the club, yep of course that's going to happen! If you were putting the money in would you do that?

| Anyhow! Enough of that
Can't recall seeing Matt play last year, did he get much first team experience? I know not that many people seem happy that he has been signed back on, what do folk seriously think of his prospects?
It s good to see another local lad coming though and as a youngster he will not make a big hole in the salary budget

| I don't think we've nurtured our young playmakers enough in recent years, and so I hope we stick with Matt and give him some time to grow. We'll hopefully see Alex Walker blossom in the next year or two, although this may make it difficult to keep him, but I'm sure we could have made a better job with Joe Keyes' development. He may well have had defensive shortcomings, but so did Cooper Cronk and look how he's gone over the years!
There is no doubt that the Academy of 2017 was our best crop for some time; superbly led by Jamie and the team. I hope there's more to come across to the first team squad in the next year to two.

| I watched the juniors for years from LMS through to Sargy. McMeekin etc and there are 2 things that struck me with the teams year after year;
1 The tackling technique was poor
2 We lost our way on the last tackle in the opponents 20- I can't recall seeing a decent 6/7- Sargy and his half back partner both played for England in there younger days.
I think we've always had speed out wide, Caro, Dixon etc and backrowers who work hard. Some of the basic skills have been lacking at the junior level. To think they will be coached advanced skills like 13/6/7 need is probably beyond the coaching team or has been.

Without a decent half back combination, teams struggle - see Fiji today. They are underestimated, second string to forwards. That's what worries me about this season, decent 6, 7 and then ....

if we are reduced to being "satisfied' with a signing because he'll be cheap then I fear for us moving forward. The Kid was deemed not good enough a couple of months back and now "he's an OK signing because he's cheap"?
The Mind Boggles.....

| Maybe the previous coach didn't like him, maybe the new coach sees a future for him.
Who said satisfied? How did LMS start out, he was pretty cheap early doors, and he turned out ok

Everything seems harsh to you if it isn't what you want to hear. Ive provided you with my thoughts of 10 + years watching the kids.
Maybe this is better;
Hughes is great and our saviour
Our youth development is the best in UK
The potential of the club going forward is enormous
Ealing is geographically placed in the best location London has
Happy now.

| Now now WQ I merely commented tgatbtge juniors seemed to have a good year in 2017 with some excellent unexpected wins so something must be getting done right.
As for the rest.
Hughes is our owner and financial back, have never said saviour.
The development set up is pretty damn good at the moment considering.
The potential of the club going forward who knows? But there is always enormous potential in every endeavour.
Ealing is in the best location London has, in some people's opinion yes in others no, I have never commented on it.
If we are to compete in super league inn the future with current regulations we have to move again it's a fact, even if they do develop vallis way, but wherever we move to someone us not going to like it

No its not. It got a very average rating(good) from the RFL, fell well short of the better clubs and didn't improve rating wise on its previous report. Not everything is rosy. Yes they knocked over Wigan Leeds etc towards the end of the season but still finished in the bottom half of the table.
Don't keep getting sucked in by the 'marketing' machine.
Finally, considering what??

Considering we've only got Central Funding and Hughes 2 million a year, I'd expect the kids to hammer everyone, because it's certainly not being spent on the first team squad or on the marketing and promotion of the club!

| So we are one of 3 non super league clubs that run an academy and we finished where? Mid table? It's a lot more than other clubs! Is it an improvement on the previous years?

Not at all. I welcome the 2 million but I do wonder where the hell it is being "invested", because we've delivered very little of the potential that mac used to wax lyrical about a decade or so ago......Hughes should employ professionals but has repeatedly made bad choices sometimes based purely on the evidence that people he doesn't like have told him otherwise.......
...and how did Soward, an NRL player subject to deserved scrutiny and suddenly a star in a team hammered 0-70 in a challenge cup match become the ideal man to select our new coach........I'll tell you how, because Hughes is a fan and as such a useless owner....Grima was a disaster, but Hughes is known for selecting people who have been "recommended" to him......MacKay wasn't even Interviewed FFS....Worcester Warriors have averaged 1k fewer already this year and he's hiding away...
[urlhttp://www.worcesternews.co.uk/sport/wrfc/15455211.New_Warriors_chief_to_take_different_approach_to_social_media/[/url
..so no...no magic money tree but you have to ask where the cash is going to keep coming from and the answer is from nowhere.....

And what is it you think THE CLUB would do with it that it already isn't doing now with him overseeing things?
A thriving Academy and Scholarship set up. The most engaging community programme for years, perhaps ever. Improved back office and structure with competent staff who can do their jobs as proven with the sponsorship brought in recently which I believe to be the highest income from sponsorship in many years. A permanent home for players of all levels to train together and fans to enjoy stability. A sensible and affordable playing roster that suits the position the club is in both league wise and supporter wise currently.
I'm a Hull City Football fan and do you know what, the Premier League was alright but having players earning hundreds of thousands of pounds a year and going up and down like a yo yo with a crazy owner has taught me one thing, I would rather support a club that plays to it's level both on and off the field and grows slowly and without the need for crazy inputs of finance to live a dream. I do not see fans of Brighton or Bournemouth complaining that it took them an age to grow to where they are now.
You have a personal issue with DH and that is fine, you are entitled to an opinion, but you're also letting it cloud your judgement. Having dealt with the club for 3 years now the difference in professionalism is clear to see.
The man is simply fed up of losing ÂŁ2,000,000 a year and is trying to regulate the flow of cash out of the club to a more sensible and manageable level. I would say that is pretty important. You seem intent on finding someone else to throw away money down the drain just to live a dream. It is the sporting equivalent of having a gorgeous blonde on your arm who needs thousands spending on her yet ultimately she will be banging you're best mate the minute your back is turned. He was just pi$$ing money down the drain on staff and players that were having a ride. You deserve better as fans and he certainly doesn't deserve that.
And finally you mention Skolars. Have you any idea how much they lose a year even with the smallest playing budget in the league? They are just a smaller version of the Broncos who are themselves just a smaller version of Salford. Only a handful of clubs will ever be profitable money making machines such as Leeds, Hull FC and Wigan which as you are fully aware is down to location and fan base.
I fully accept that London as a City is huge and back in the day 4000 was an achievable crowd but the only reason those people came was to see mercenary players struggle in the top flight. Surely it is better to build a fan base watching players who are paid a sensible wage for the level of football they can compete at with an Academy bringing through home grown talent and a community programme adding bums on seats year on year as people start to embrace the club.
London Broncos can grow, and I believe will grow, into a very strong Championship club with a couple of thousand fans and potential (RFL permitting) to join the top flight one day without the need for a David Hughes or Derek Beaumont. It is not going to happen overnight though.

And there lies the problem. You are one of those that benchmark against Barnet. CMG will take you back 20 years.
