Hi guys. Im looking to come over for a concert in November at Homfirth Picturedrome. Im just wondering the best way to get there from Castleford. I will be coming on the train more than likely just wondering how easy it is to get that way and any decent/cheap places to stay overnight possibly? Also of any decent pubs nearby. Any help/advice would be appreciated.

You can get a taxi from outside the railway station, but is a bit pricey, approx £15, or you can turn right from the station following the station wall, it comes out opposite the Crown pub, bear right and you will see the bus station for a bus to Holmfirth. Could get the train to either Denby Dale or Brockholes/Honley and get a bus direct to Holmfirth from them (15 mins ).

For pubs there is a bar in the venue or there is Herveys wine bar and The old Bridge Hotel both next door to it or there is plenty of pubs within the town within a 10 minute walk from the Picturedrome.

As for staying over, what guest houses etc there is down there tend to be a bit pricey due to the tourists that turn up, there is one or two places not far away from Holmfirth that are a taxi ride away .....

Or depending on the time, jump on a bus back to Huddersfield where there is more choice for rooms etc.

Take time to have a wander round the town too if you can - i grew up there and its a smashing little place

Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated. I'm off to see The Darkness. Not everyones cup of tea but i enjoy them! Looking forward to visiting the area and the venue. Been reading some good reports of what it is like. I like the smaller venues compared to bigger halls/arenas.

there's a few B&B'S in Holmfirth but will probably be busy.
easiest way to get there is bus from Huddersfield, 312,313,314, all go there I think.
plenty of pubs/bars in the centre and if you like a decent indian meal, the raaj of india is worth a try!
