We are currently 4th in the league, if we win all three or 2/3 from our last three two of which are at home we finish 4th, or 5th at worst and Catalans have to play warrington in the league at home not a given at all. We finished 5th last year so we would have improved one place

LOD, doof and jamie Simpson have played between them 37 times out of a possible 81 games they could have played, both DOOF and LOD will have played less than 50% each. Sean Lunt will have missed virtually half the season. So we have three marqueé signings plus an england international who will have missed nearly all of the back end of the season but when they were all playing we were going well !!!! e.g leeds away where LOD was immense....

We have won 10/11 at home 5/12 away not the statistics of a bad team more of a disrupted team with big signings missing on so many occasions who instead of coming all into fitness at the business end of the season we have lost some of our big names and it shows.

We will be 2/3 games from Old Trafford, challenge cup Q/F's and hopefully if rumour is true still some more signings to come for next year.

Wins against Salford and Quinns should see us 4th and as at warrington in the play offs last year even the 'big teams' do funny things under pressure.

Is it really so bad ???? or are we all just getting carried away cos I for one have had my monies worth !!! Perhaps we all just expected a little bit more and fate is a very fickle mistress !!!

Whilst we must be patient and not get too carried away i do also hope
that lessons are bieng learned with the Giants coaching staff who everyone must admit
have made one or two strange decisions and try to put right some basic flaws which have crept into our game .
We are more than capable as we showed early part of the season

if time would stand still..... I would have Brad drew back thats what we have lacked or a similar type of player back up half or hooker bags of experience who can guide the team around the park !! Doesn't need to play every week but so valuable...

YUP !! and hopefully lessons learnt we aren't doing badly but need quality rather than quantity in certain positions.... GF can be reached from 4th and play off football is different again its like the lottery...you have to be in it to win it !!

I said at the start of the season I would be happy with top four and a good cup run. It looks like I will be happy, however when we had that purple patch in the middle beating saints Leeds and wire perhaps I got a bit carried away and started to expect more. Just a shame we lost to crus and shaky as we would be in a better position.
Looking at our team on paper we are not quite up there with the likes of Wigan, wire and even saints in reality- they have had more time (and money) to build a squad but we are getting there and as Ken Davy has said it's about building and we certainly seem to be heading in the right direction. We have come a long long way from the days of John Kear and mal Reilly.
Based on my initial expectations we have had a good season.

We need some quality centres.

This season we've been too inconsistant and should be doing better its as simple as that. I think you're wrong saying we are fickle. We've got a briliant team who should in all fairness be clear of Saints and stood third in the table and who should have been playing semi final rugby last weekend. We've lost some very stupid points and games over the season and to get right up there with the Wigan/Wire and Saints/Leeds of the past we've got to start taking our chances and putting banker games to bed.

Granted we've had our fair share of injuries but so too has all the other teams in SL. If we want to move onto the next level and get to where we want to be and are aiming we've got to become acustomed to winning the games we should be winning and winning the tight games against the top clubs week in week out instead of losing out the majority of the them when the backs are against the wall.

We've got the team and squad to realistically win something this year but because our form is so hot and cold I'm now not 100% sure we will have some silverware in the cabinet come Grand final day and could struggle to make the semis this time round!!!

but my view on it is that we are neither consisten or ruthless enough to seriously challenge for silverware, early in the season i would have said we were having destroyed leeds,saints and warrington, but sadly we have never looked like hitting those heights again.

interesting reading the match reports in league weely and league express both critical of our early licking and lacklustre attack and inability to catch a ball..!! pretty much sums it up.... but we need to find our 'A' game soon.. or the season will just peter out which will be sad... be nice to win silverware but as at saints last year at least we almost got to OT and gave a better saints side a 'hell of a scare'..... and it was great to watch...

better team last season than this, gone backwards or just stood still and other teams improved and figured out how to beat us

Giants have won 5 out of their last ten superleague games. Three of the five losses were away games at Saints Wire and Wigan (so not games we would have been tipped to win at the start of the season)

Even if the Giants lost all three games left (which we wont) it would still only be one win less than last year so it is hardly a step backwards.

Don't spoil peoples narrow Mindness and enjoyment of self pity and complaining with FACTS....

so were not expected to win at wire saints and wigan now?

oh dear, might aswell stay as we are then.... some of our fans are just happy with where we are, it was the players who werent expecting to win at these places a few years ago at least they have tried to change there midset

We would not be favourite against any of those sides away from home with a full side never mind one delpleted by injuries.
In answer to your question i see any positive result against one of the big teams away from home as a bonus.
I expect us to win at home and to win away at the bottom sides but no i do not go to the likes of Wigan and Saints and expect to win which is maybe why i don't get suicidal after every defeat like some on here.

may aswell settle for 4th and 5th place every season then.

we can win at them places but the fixtures have come in a bad timeing with injuries losing brough when we did was bad timeing lod and fa'alogo pick n choose games they play. missing lunt for the time we have hasnt helped as we have had to swap our half backs around. we had a good performance against kr then we changed alot of players to bring back a few players that have been on the sidelines for a little while.

so adding rusty players to a team in a big game like that isnt gonna help players cant just turn it on when they come back from layoffs and with the ammount of changes could have distrupted the team a little. also we have rushed brough back and is still having problems with that ankle which personally id give him the next 3 week off bring him back against leeds to get him a game before the playoffs.

so its not always gonna be nice and rosey when stuff like that happens but when we do have our full team like most of the first half of the season we showed how good we was and what we can do but being 4th in the league is nwt to panic about yes recent form isnt the best but its not like we cant change it

The only way we've gone backwards is from the the high standards we set ourselves this season. As the seasons gone on we've steadily become as normal as the other clubs in SL (Wire and Pies the exception). This could be down to other teams improving more than us as the season has gone on or we have taken our foot off the gas and become quite complacent. Hopefully NB will get it right before its too late this season fingers crossed

I'd hardly call a 67% win record against Wire & a 50% win record v Saints a step backwards. We've won 3 and lost 4 against the top 3 sides. Not disastrous, I'd say.
