| Hello Giants. after watching you again last night and despite the odd defensive blip, i truly believe you are now actually one of the main contenders this season and with the possible addition of DB to improve the kicking game you could well be in for a wonderful season.
but what id like to know is when do you think you actually started to be a side of true potential.
i know you went to the cc final in 2006, but was it when Nathan Brown came in as coach or just a gradual build up before that,

| The arrival of Nathan Brown last year was certainly the tipping point. We were tipped as being 10-12 place finishers last year but managed 3rd and a CC final. I also think very valuable lessons were learnt in the play-offs for NB. That mistake won't happen again.

| Definately when Nathan Brown came i think, he has a knack of turning players that were average into very good players and bringing out their full potential - players like Kev Brown for instance is like a new player under Brown and what he has done with players from the lower leagues like Lunt,Kirmond and Patrick for example is nothing short of fantastic !

Although under Jon Sharp we got to the CC final and Our first quals for the play offs.
I THINK IT HAS BEEN A GRADUAL THING AND FOR ME IT STARTED WHEN WE WENT DOWN FROM Sl WON EVERY GAME and have built on that year on year.
It was sharp who brought most of the current squad in.
Without a doubt though Nathan Brown showed those players how to play as a team and got more out of them than any other coach could have done.
the other thing that happened was Ken Davy allowed us to sepend to full salary cap and add the quality players to the pool we had at the time.
If you are looking for one point in our recent history where it all began surely it was when Ken Davy took over.

or possibly a few years before that when under Alex Murphy we won the old 3rd division championship, i think that gave the club belief that we could win things again and we seem to have progressed gradually from then

That was it for me Daz, ever since A J Murphy got the club thinking it could win again its been a steady rise, barring a blip or two.
In terms of SL it was Sharp being replaced, yeah he brought in much of the current squad, and did some good things with it, but I think he lacked that spark to take us on again...

I agree with that. The signing of Gene also was the turning point in Super League. When he signed, although we still got relegated we finished that season with the form of a mid tabled team.

| well thanks for the replies chaps, thought i would have been told to go away etc etc, but as you usually count the mighty wildcats as automatic 4 points i thought you may possibly be polite.
may own thoughts are similar to this;-
It was sharp who brought most of the current squad in.
Without a doubt though Nathan Brown showed those players how to play as a team and got more out of them than any other coach could have done.
my theory being the defence as the main area of improvement especially when you look at the table as of today..
so it seems to be a case of
jon sharp - built a slow and stable foundation, (which is paramount)
Nathan brown over two years has moved this on - firstly defence and now this year improved attack. its no point scoring 32 if your opponents score 33.

| Tony Smith did well for the Giants but Browny coming in turned the players from average players into players who now believe in themselves, Ken Davy has also put his life and sole into this club and has backed the Giants to get them to the position they are in now.

| When It started I dont know, I have only been watching the GIANTS 2 years scince moving from Doncaster to Huddersfield, what I do know is while watching I have enjoyed every win, loss etc and have seen improvement over those two years. maybe it started when i started watching ![Embarassed icon_surprised.gifops:](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_redface.gif) but then again I have also been watching Donny 30 years with many ups and downs so its prob nowt to do with me ![Smile icon_smile.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_smile.gif)
