I have amalgamted a few threads as they seem to be covering the topic of What is Going Wrong.

With so many threads people were posting the same things on lots of threads. Hopefully this will tidy it up a bit.

FWIW here are my thoughts.

Some of the problem is the EXPECTATION of the fans.

Our two biggest rivals are Wire and Wigan neither of whom i believe are spending the same money as us on players.

They are the Man U and Man City of SL. We are the Tottenham.

We can give them a good run for their money but cannot keep up with them week in and week out.
Our best chance of a trophy was against Wire in the CC where we were robbed.
Not only do they spend more they have beter and more established youth academies than us. Wire are paying for taxis to take Huddersfield youngsters to Wire to train



Because we cannot match the bigger teams and their resources we do have the mentality in the club of punching above our weight and the psychological effect of thinking our best chance of a trophy is the CC. When the coach says that and we then go out of the CC it is bound to affect the players.

We have probably gone too much for quantity rather than quality players but we are tied in to having to keep our academy products as per the SL rules. As a result we have to pay some of them more than they are currently worth ( although in time they will become worth that money).

We do not have the same level of quality indavidual players as some teams we play as a team. Our strength is as a team. Our first 17 fully fit and playing week in wek out would match anyone. The problem comes when some players are out.

Like an engine one or two bits not working is enough to make the whole thing stop working. You might have a Mercedes but if a p[siton is broken it will not work no matter how much the rest of it is well built.

When we lose one or two players it afects everything else down the line. Losing Lunt means Robbo has top do 80 mins, losing Brough means the kicking game is gone and the forward do not get a rest, losing Brown means the organisation and the plays fall flat, losing LOD means we lose our one leader.

Last year McGuire had 6 captains at Wigan. That was 6 leaders on the pitch at one time. We do not have that that level of leadership on the pitch. This has brought home how important BODGY was to the team.

All of the above has led to the crisis of confidence and hence the bad performances.

All the other points people have made may or not be true that players are injured or overtrained, that some recriutment decisions were bad, that Brown likley to go threatens stability, some players may have given up, too many changes at the wrong time. We probably need a couple of new players particularly a PROP and a centre. We also need a new leader like a O'Loughlin or Sinfield. None of us really know. Despite the bad performances their has been no lack of effort.

I think the reasons for our downfall were highlighted in the first part of the post. No conspiracy theories just a simple explanation.
All we can do is get behind the team and hope they turn it around.

You don't know anything about griffins situation- you are repeating gossip and hearsay. If having a tattoo means that players are unprofessional that applies to all the lads on the team.

got to agree with your post durham think you have summed it up perfectly for me. I think we are at a stage that wire were at 3 years ago, on the verge but not consistant enough yet.

I was told that the tattoo in question was done by a mate, not professionally, and went septic. Also, not all the lads in the team have tattoos!

I would moved K.Brown back to centre then we need a proper classy clever standoff and 1 quality centre.

So many Coaches ,guys in all honesty just stick to watching i have never read has much tripe in all my life,yes it is a fans forum but all this crap is becoming a little tedious.

most have tatts but not all as you said!! And it was done by some amateur a couple of days before the game. kev brown actually had one done as well at the same time but it did not go bad.

Since the Castleford game we have had about 6 different combinations at1, 6, 7 and 9.We have only played with the same 4 players in those positions for consecutive games twice.

That's why our form has been incosistent. Earlier in the season when NB was rotating the team we had the same players playing at 1, 6, 7 and 9 week in week out. Or at least only one change having to be made.

Since those 4 positions touch the ball more than any others it is difficult to build up any momentum if you are chopping and changing them. Having to do it through injury makes it even worse. Saints ahd a similar problem earlier in the season when they were losing half backs and their form was inconsitent. Unfortunately there is little we can do about it as there seems to be not enought time to get the players back and bed them back in the team.

Well lets be positive... luck seems to be favouring us at the moment leeds lost so beat quinns worst finish 5th. Beat quins and Leeds best finish 4th.

As i have said now is the time we learn about NB and PA because it appears we are fated to finish fourth despite our problems playing away from home.

We have two weeks to get players rested, fresh and up to speed i have had my say about the problems that exist and are well summed up by Durham giant and with two games to go, one should be almost a training session against Quinns the other a good hard battle against leeds at home NB & PA should be able to have us peaking for the play off battles ahead.

All season NB has preached it doesn't matter what position we finish in the games are still the same. I think a semi final play off as per last season is the minimum that they have to achieve, going out before that i'm afraid is a failure.

So I'm going to wait be positive and leave my final judgement on NB and to a slightly lesser extent on PA until after the last kick of the season and then make my judgement as to positive or negative. But either way lets hope the lessons of this season have been or will be learnt from.....

Feel I should submit a post that explains are schizophrenic halves to his season...but I haven't a clue....and I hope Nathan can find one soon.

Possibly IMHO we have relied too much on a power game,building pressure,kicks for repeat sets,bombs etc and lack the real star quality when the ball goes through the hands.The power game of E,M&G 1 off the ruck was great to watch early this time though as they took it to the opposition.Wigan,Warrington and maybe Saints can match us for power,and play some good football on the back of that.

I reckon though we aren't far off if the coaching staff can just get the players to twaek things on attack,timing,decision making etc.

Injuries to key players haven't helped.3 separate ones for Mason & O'Donnell,2 each for KB & Broughy.

Can't explain the no shows like at Bradford though.We tried to play dry weather football in a monsoon at Wakefield.We haven't helped ourselves sometimes.Still hanging in there in the top 4 though,with two home games to go,and our record down on the 'Pharm is second to none.
