I have also been here since 2002 and the point i am trying to make is that yes they were times and individuals who spoiled things but in my experience that was quite rare compared to today where just about EVERY thread, regardless of its nature is turned into a bickering name calling nonsense.
Some of my best friends are people i have met through this very forum - from 2002 onwards - who used to contribute massively on this board but got fed up of their opinion or anyone elses's for that matter been ridiculed and the person posting made to feel their thoughts didnt count if someone disagreed.some still read the boards but feel it is pointless posting anything anymore because the thread they posted on will inevitably de-generate into a my dad your dad scenario the moment 2 people disagree on something.
Back in the 'old' days we used to have 2 or 3 new posters a week who would quickly make friends and become a valued member of the board due to their thoughts, opinions etc - not now - they make 2 or 3 posts and then just give up because due to the squabbling their points get lost among many pages of crap and no one reads it because they cant be bothered - they know whats coming !!.
Like i said most of the firends currently in my life are people who i met through this board and no disrespect to any new posters since 2006 ish but i cant imagine ever making new friendships through this board now.

sorry if people disagreee but i used to love coming on here and discussing Rugby and Fartown with friends and other like minded people and i just feel it is a damn shame that it has been left to disintegrate into a farce where the main issues of the boards original intent are now lost to petty name calling and squabbling to try and prove that one is more knowledgeable or has a bigger dad etc.

Think i my have to call time out on this board myself soon

Funnily enough i could have written that post 3-4 years ago Daz, same crap, different people, supposed it helped back then being in the clique as you obviously were and if you were making 2-3 new mates a week then surely you'd be sat with a few hundred people around you at games if you get my point



People move on mate, move away, get married, have kids so just dont post as much.

Think Ivor summed it up perfectly, this board got ruined 2-3 years ago, the same people you say dont post now, i could give you just as many who wouldnt post back then, swings and roundabouts mate.

I dont mind it being quiet, makes my job easier and it must just be me that sees new posters popping up here weekly then, hardly dying more like getting there slowly again.

Not sure how anyone is 'forced' off a forum (other than suspended / banned).

It was clear that in 2006/7 the Giants had their best 2 seasons in 40+ years. So for many posters the best 2 years in their entire lives. Yet there were a group of posters who persistently b**ched about the club, certain players and Sharp in particular. This clique of negative fans seemed to get the hump when others pointed out that a CC Final and 5th in the table are actually achievements!

Lee, i didnt say i was necessarily making 2-3 friends a week i meant the people who came on the board made friends with other people off the board !
and as for being in a clique there wasnt one ! thats the point i'm making we all got to know each other through the board and welcomed other baord users to meet up before during and after games which doesnt seem to happen these days.

In my round about way, what im saying is the people i went to games with back then weren't made very welcome on here and it did seem very cliquey at the time, your saying it sucks now, im just pointing out it wasnt very good back then neither, people i know still dont post or bother looking now after 3-4 years cos off back then.

Fair enough, maybe we have differing views then over time because back then to me was the best times .

FWIW i have never had any personal issues with anyone on these boards in 7 years or got involved in any vendettas etc against other users.

We probably are too soft, speaking for myself (i know you cant check) but i have no permanent bans to my name, couple have had temporary ones (and your close

) but none are permanently banned by me.

As someone said earlier some boards you cant say boo on so this is one of the more liberal ones, dont think the other 2 have banned many or im presuming id have had pm's saying they had.

Maybe it is time to get tough and start laying the "law" down a little, ive always tried to mod it thinking that the majority of us are adults and normally a pm or two does the trick rather than banning, it does help that i probably know or have met most posters on here so i can see how they intend their post to be other than just reading it and drawing the wrong conclusions.

As for the trolling, it goes on all forums (apart from wigan's

), where do you draw the line, no one is forced to reply to a troll, they normally go away if you dont bite, im probably as guilty as most for biting, i do get pm's asking me to ban them (not often i add) but if i did then it would be a lot duller.

As for lack of Huddersfield topics, if you think there are too few then start some, very rare i merge or lock a thread.

I personally think its better now but every now and again we have a bitchfest and a moan and we get these threads popping up, i got no problem with that, gets things out in the open.

Anyway roll on sunday and another win hopefully and a very good or bad day on here come monday

With regard to meeting people, I've had quite a few ding-dongs with other posters - some vitriolic, some not. However, whenever I've met others from here they turn out to be really decent people. I still disagree with what some of them say, but I don't get as uptight about it.

I know Lee tried to organise a board 'do' once, I still think it's a good idea. [If it's in a pub, make sure it's got proper beer, not the stuff some of you morons drink!

Nothing wrong with it at all. Just that when people held a more +ve view about the club a clique did not like it.

And KD did not sack Sharp when he got to a CC final (while many on here complained about Sharp) and he stayed strong in 07 when Sharp got us to 5th place despite many wanting his head. KD forcefully kept him in as coach. A good call by KD

This debate could quite easily turned nasty a time or two, there are plenty of disagreements. However, it has kept on track with some humour in and amongst.
