| The attitude from fans on here comes from hearing the same old story, the majority of fans on here go to games religiously, bring anyone they can convince and appreciate how good a team we have at the moment. You are complaining to the converted.
We have a chance to win some form of silverware for the first time in decades which is a huge deal to the band of loyal fans on here, it really is something special to fans of huddersfield and something we are all proud of, its like people are trying to have a go because we dont have as many fans as others, it disappoints us as much as anyone but it is irrelevent to the fact that we are challenging for honours. I could understand if teams got an extra point for hitting 10k every game, but its totally irrelevent and unfair for this to be the talking point when a team tipped to miss the top eight this year is currently sitting top with 5 games to go!
Don't get me wrong, i dont think this season is over, i think Warrington will have a big say in the final league standings, but for one week let us enjoy the small amount of hope and glory we feel without finding the same old reason to put us down!

| Delighted to see a Yorkshire team at the top. There's no way we can win it and there's no way I want to see Leeds win it. You've been the best team this side of the Pennines this season, so make sure you're still top after the last game.
Well done!!

This is what I don't understand about other fans knocking you lot for your attendances. You'll be delighted to hear that I'm not going to hold those 5000-6000 people who keep turning up responsible for the (in)actions of all the people who don't. Because that would be pretty stupid.
I do find it sad that more people can't be bothered to turn up to watch a team playing really good RL and being successful. You can't fix the problem overnight though.

| Quote ="meast"well done saints, its finally in our hands! 110% effort and attitude and we are LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!!!
I cant even begin to believe how that sounds after all the years of crap we have put up with. those days when we were losing to Trafford, chorley, bramley etc we could only imagine playing wigan, but now we have a chance to go there and just about seal the league championship!
lets hope the club and the sponsors push this game every day and get our end packed, lets all push this game, but most importantly lets bloody beat Salford!!!!!'"
I see what you did there.
But as we all know, whether we like it or not, the champions are crowned at Old Trafford in October.
Since you still look at least close to being the best team (Wire are in good nick at the moment) in the league going into August, there's obviously no reason to suggest that you can't do that. But I'm going to indulge in a spot of hypothetical musing.
If you won the LLS, but then (hypothetically) failed to back it up by winning the championship, how would you reflect on that? Progress and pleased at the bit of silverware, or frustrated at a missed opportunity?
I'm always curious about attitudes to the LLS. It still seems an afterthought to me, but people do still seem to get very excited about it. I migth even go so far as to say that over the last 2 years Wire and Wigan have got excited about it and shot their bolt too early pursuing a red herring (or silver dish, more accurately).

| The Grand Final always feels forced to me, and it's only about the two teams involved
Winning the LLS is a test of consistency and endurance over the season, the fact Sky have downplayed it for years (as they have the challenge cup) in no way diminishes its importance

| Winning any game was a bonus when a lot of us started watching so forgive us for getting a little happy over the fact that we could and are very close to actually finishing a season as the highest team in the country and winning something for that achievement. I dont particularly care 'how important' or 'how highly regarded' the said piece of silverware is, if we win it we have earnt it.

What's to forgive? I asked for opinions. I also gave mine, but I'm not really into insisting that other people share my opinions.
I hope you do finish top. And you'd be my 2nd choice to win the Grand Final as well. Yorkshire club, lots of English/British players. Ticks all the boxes for me.
Obviously I'd rather Leeds won, but I may be a little biased.

| I think the LLS shield is slightly devalued by the emphasis that is put on the play-offs. They are, for me, two different achievements that deserve just rewards in their own rights. That doesn't necessarily have to be monetary or titles, but more of a reward in the play-offs would be a start.
I also think with the 8 team structure, the whole play-offs and thus Super League has been slightly devalued. The teams that scrape 7th and 8th might not win half of their league games this season - is that a team that deserves to be in the play-offs? Not for me. When we go back to twelve teams, the play-offs needs to be less than half of the league. You could have the top five, give the LLS a buy through the first round and have three rounds of (potentially) high intensity rugby league.
In short, I agree with the winners of the play-offs being crowned champions; but I think the LLS deserve more than a hub cap and home tie plus the potential horror of picking their next opponent.

| What if we win the GF and finish 3rd in the LLS tournament, will we be saying the GF doesn't count??
Both are good things to win, the GF is the holy grail for me, but if we was to win the LLS and no guarantee we'll win either, it's a good statement of intent, certainly for our club.
Anyway it doesn't matter as we're a disgrace, Im going down the fish mongers later to get a wet kipper to thrash myself with, such a disgrace I am!!

Spot on Daz, I suspect the only people who don't value the LLS are clubs who haven't won it. Ask Wire what their fans think. I'm sure they rate it. I'm sure we would should we win it. To be fair it's probably the hardest piece of silverware to win. CC is a lottery whom you get to play and GF, just need to be free of injuries and on form for few weeks. LLS won over a whole season. However, teams that take it easy knowing they've qualified for the playoffs may have had an effect on the outcome if it was just a league title and no GF. If you get my drift.

To be fair I've seen Leeds win it twice. To be honest it mostly (especially in 2004) made me nervous that we were going to screw it all up in the play-offs.
It's definitely a good thing to win, and certainly a great achievement. Like someone said above, since 98 when we lost to Wigan in the first one of the SL era, the GF has been the grail.
I'd also echo hopes for a return to the top 5 system. That was the one that worked best for me.

All the top clubs have won it, and no one really cares about it. Warrington were relatively new to the grand final party but after tasting old trafford last year the attitude of their fans this year has been one of indifference, and the team haven't gone all out to win it either. Winning the grand final gives the title of champions. If you win the LLS and don't make and or win the grand final you just end up looking stupid.

I don't care if we win the Kirklees/Calderdale and spen valley memorial trophy, we haven't won ANYTHING according to most others so winning anything would be nice just to say

| The LLS doesn't come near the Grand Final for me, but it's still a trophy, one of only 3 we have domestically at the top level, so you can't really look stupid by winning it.
Though that has been an amusing stick to beat Saints, Wire and Wigan fans with in recent years, by use of the word "choke" - but banter's banter isn't it.
I'd still rather win the LLS than not win it, if you see what I mean.

| feel the winners of the LLS deserve to win the grand final really, would be fitting. just hasnt been happening though!
and top 8 for playoffs needs to be reduced to 5 too. rewarding loses at the moment. yes it gives the others something to play for but doesnt make it right, glad the relegation is coming back, they have something to play for then!
the downside of this is that some clubs will panic buy, look at hull kr already signed up two overseas for next year!

If we had top 5 then over half the league would have their season over and done last month

but its being reduced to 12 from 14 teams.
and as i said bringing back relegation will give the lower teams something to play for.
oh and the giants were voting for it to be 10 teams very strongly

| I'm still a bit gobsmacked we are at the top. I still haven't seen us play a complete match all season (I did miss saints away and Leeds) in terms of effort. I'd have said we played more consistent rugby last season at times ( obviously failed dismal at the end), but we are due to dish out some good all round performances soon I feel, hopefully at the business end.
I did think CC was out best chance of silverware, but the more I look at it now LLS is deffo nut to crack, that would have the knock on effect of instilling belief in the players for a decent crack at the GF ( while giving the Wire a lambing along the way).

I don't think it will, I think it will make it more of a scramble for the fifth and potentially the fourth spot. There would also be promotion and relegation, so teams would be avoiding the bottom spaces.
