And you men were given a try as a result of a forward pass.
You weren't 'robbed' at all. Had that try not been given we would have had a completely different scenario. You were given a try that shouldn't have been given and were denied a contentious drop goal that could easily have been awarded. I wouldn't have argued had it gone over, but that's sport for you. Some you get, some you don't.
3 opportunities you had either way. Walsh only needed 1 and we're through. That's how it goes.

I don't feel robbed at all and never said I have, it's the teams lack of composure that has ultimately cost us the game unfortunately As you said some you get some you don't, we got a try off a forward pass, you get a penalty for nothing under sticks. ref evened it up all nicely, we can both move on

They were also denied a try that should have been given so they even out. If you were to tally every incorrect decision in that game Saints were miles ahead in terms of favourable decisions, I guarantee it.

Which one?
Of course they even themselves out. I'd love to know how a team can be robbed on 1 decision. Both teams had their calls and some went against them. That's sport at the end of the day.

If I remember correctly it was the first VR decision. Smith incorrectly adjudged a knock on; incorrect because the ball went backwards off a Saints player. So they were given one they shouldn't have and denied one they should. That evens out.
If Bentham got the DG decision wrong then they would obviously have been robbed by that decision.

| I have no problem with fans thinking it went over or it didn't. Both are just as possible as each other.
My issue are those who say it definitely went over. As if adding that word suddenly makes it fact.
Give me the calculations. The camera behind the sticks is at an angle. Just as ever other camera is. In fact the closer something is the bigger the angle that it needs to turn. If you don't believe me. Ask someone to stand 1m away and see how far they need to move before you have to turn your angle of vision. Then ask them to be 100m away and they will have to go alot further before you move your angle of vision.
The camera behind the posts, dependent upon it's positioning will have a camera man turning it therefore creating an angle.
Plus since when does a ref ever favour the away side.

This has nothing to do with the away side, or even that it was Saints. It's got everything to do with the Giants and bentham.
The ref's can usually be seen around the bar area or nearby after a game but bentham was nowhere to be seen and didn't even come out of his changing room until somebody had brought his car right up to the gate so he could jump in and speed off. He knew he was wrong and wasn't facing any of the music.

That is a serious conundrum!! Always had a soft spot for Saints and never liked Leeds but it's Yorkshire versus Over T Hill.

| It's our own fault we are so insidciplined Jerry's and perhaps the Wardle one after the sending offapart I'd say the penalties were justified and were for petulance and stupidity rather than 50/50 calls and we have been giving them away week in week out and the sooner we get a grip the better. Kicking out on the full, pulling a players leg as he tries to get up and play the ball, tackling a playet in the air are inexcusable and need to be addressed

| It's been a while since there has been a game as controversial as this one to result in so many posts. As far as Brough's last drop goal attempt, I can't tell from all I've seen at the match and on TV whether it succeeded or not, so I am prepared to accept the referee's decision. What really annoyed me was the second drop goal attempt (at about 76:40) when Saints were clearly at least a yard offside at the play-the-ball, allowing them a chance to block the drop goal attempt. That should have been a penalty to Giants with an almost certain 2 points. I have to agree with other posters that, if the same situation had arisen at the other end 3 minutes later with Saints drop goal being blocked, I have a sneaking suspicion that Bentham would have given a penalty.

The camera behind the stick is dead in the centre of the posts, the ball travels between the posts and moves/veers after passing them as it loses momentum.

No, they wouldn't. Both teams got calls for them, both got calls against them. That's how it goes.
I thought our defence late on was absolutely exceptional. Fair few players playing who were rushed back somewhat injury wise, but we showed some real desire and commitment to get off the line.
Thankfully we managed to get down the field and Walsh slotted it over.

Sorry but if a winning score is incorrectly chalked off then yes, you've been robbed by that decision.
As for their desire and commitment, it unfortunately drifted into being offside.

Spot on. Tough to take but looking at all the evidence it's likely Bentham got it right as he was best placed. Even the kicker wasn't looking when the ball reached the posts.

jerry when he got up and was shoved by walsh? should of been a pen to us, he didnt hold him down he was appealing for a knock on in the collision, the ball was between walsh's legs he lost the ball i had a clear view from my seat.
and the wardle on he was being held by the collar by lomax so had no chance to get up in time, another wrong call by bentham

| Having watched the game back and not noticiing it at the game, at everyone of Brough DG attempts not one Saints player in the TV shot was anywhere near the goal line...i think the 2nd one there were 3 of them at least 2 or 3 yards off the line when the PTB happened....why did none of the officials see or even look for that as it would have been pretty obvious from the 1st one that they got out very quickly !

We played as poorly as we have done this season carrying players who wouldn't have played had it been a league game and are through. Time to move on now.
