If you'd had the capability to view the figures that are openly available you'd know we've never got close to 7,500 for this game. Why would we get it now in the middle of a recession when we're blowing hot and cold in holiday season?

I realise that the fact we have a higher average then you hurts especially when we share our city with another Super League club who averages around 14000.


I asked why you can't get a crowd of 7500 when you have clearly had crowds in excess of this before. Why are you not attracting them to other games

You have around the whole of Hull to attract fans to your two clubs.
We have over 10 clubs in and around west yorkshire so it is obvious your crowds will be bigger?

I was pleased with today's crowd.

No away fans and the first weekend of school holidays when many are away. For a town of 65,000 people of which certain factions never attend Rugby matches that's ok.

right, before this becomes a d1ck measuring contest with the humberside bandwagon brigade,can i just point out that my OP was not meant to say we had superior crowds than other SL clubs,but merely to point out that despite people slagging us off for our crowds as being embarrassing/disgraceful etc we still managed to pull in more supporters than any other rugby league club today,despite the fact that the game was against harlequins,a club ( with respect) that often sees low attendances for most SL clubs due to the fact it's generally not regarded as a glamour game and with very few away supporters.
never mind how many season ticket holders we have or how much our season tickets cost we still pulled in more HOME supporters than salford,wakefield or crusaders today.
as for claiming we should get 7,500 that is plain ridiculous! dont forget that less than 10 years ago we struggled to get 5,000 for big games and that included thousands of away supporters.
so i'd say that despite spending most of the last 30 years in the doldrums and barely attracting 1,000 supporters whilst our neighbours have been very succesful and thus attracting our potential support some people should learn more about our recent history before making silly statements

As i said when the crowd was announced - 6/7 years ago we got that sort of crowd against Leeds or St helens never mind London - and out of interest i counted 16 Quins fans today so 5,300 + home fans, like Meast said against this opposition isn't bad when Wakefield and Salford probably couldn't muster that amount between em today !

the attendance today was very very good and if we ever win owt they will all come creeping back from when they went glory hunting to the likes of the Dulls. We can then join in with the my crowd is bigger than your crowd argument but tbh I don't give a toss would rather have a better team on field than crowd!!!!!!!!

I feel as a recent supporter (last 5 years) that the crowds have gone up steadily and this is reflecting on the pitch. WHilst we like many clubs rely on the sky cash it is important to realise the income generated by the games themselves.

To say there were only around 30 ish Harlequin fans they at times clearly made the most noise.

I felt even before the game started there was a lack of atmosphere on our part. IMO there was more cheering when the juniors were on prior to kick off.

I was probably as guilty as anyone else on sunday in terms of noise making but that was the general mood of the crowd.

5000+ against a team second to bottom is a reasonable turn out. I was missing 3 with me as the kids have gone to the seaside for 2 weeks and the same will be for many so all in all a good turn out.

It was a flat game, we were clearly outclassing them without breaking a sweat and it had a lot of errors (mainly by Mr Childs), it was never going to be a pulsating classic.

Next week v Wakey we will have a slightly higher crowd (but not significantly I suspect) with a better atmosphere because we are playing local rivals.

I made this point about atmosphere yesterday at the game:

We dont have a brilliant atmosphere at home anyway and it only tends to pick up if there is a significant number of away fans who are also helping to create an atmosphere - when there is very little away support our fans tend to just sit and applaud rather than shouting and singing, its always been the case and you can feel/hear the difference in atmosphere when the clubs with small away support come - eg Quins, Catalans, Crusaders and Bradford !

I wouldn't hold your breath or put money on it; given this season's form and history. Possibly more home supporters but don't order too many burgers for the guests.

Top tip: If you want some evidence of your club's green credentials do a survey of how away fans travel to your ground... I think this week you'll find most of them will be walking!!

and then you go and ruin it by moving to Newmarket!
