Quote ="GiantDee"But the RFL are very concerned about the History of our sport, they buy up Iconic Stadiums and everything!
On a serious note the RFL buying the George as a future base (they have a lease at Red Hall) makes much more business sense than buying Odsal (more acurately buying the lease for Odsal).'"
£1.4M the price for the RFL to buy the GH.Compares quite favourably to the amount they paid for the lease on the 'iconic stadium'
The council leader though seems to think that with some modernisation, the building could still be viable as a hotel.
Worst thing about this saga is that the GH employees have been thrown on the dole queue at the drop of a hat,not to mention people who have paid large amounts of cash up front for future functions there and now it would seem have lost that money.
The heritage centre is protected by a steel roller shutter door and frame, someone would have to go hard at it with a sledgehammer for a good while in order to get access,so all the artefacts in there are safe, plus they are saying there is a 24hr guard on the whole complex.
