| Finally some good news. It looks like amateur RL will be making a switch to a summer season although with some sort of compromise allowing some teams, leagues ,areas still playing in winter.
I am guessing however that within a couple of years everyone will have swapped RL in bad weather, Lower level of skills etc for a good fun summer sport. The main sporting competition wil now be cricket rather than football which suggests that RL will be the winner.

| Not good news for me would prefer winter rugby and will probably quit if it does change to summer, I don't know one amateur player that wants to play summer rugby that already doesn't. The pitches aren't good enough to play on in summer, people are on holiday, schools close so teams playing on school pitches will have to fold and a lot of players play cricket also it is being done to improve skill but pre season will be done in winter when you do most of your skill and fitness work. I wouldn't of minded a winter break, say the season started mid august and finished mid may with a six week break in December and January.

| I agree with saint joe. My step sn will miss at least 4-5 weeks every summer
2 weeks on hols with grandparents
1-2 weeks with his dad
2 weeks with us
A joke he will not be part of the team
also this will now start clashing with watch the giants GREAT NEWS lets lower attendances.
the pitches are not up to it. Instaed of impacting on softer ground it will be rock hard I hope the RFL will be able to back the increase in serious injuries that this will create.
I do agree that something had to be done to improve things not just for kids but throughout all levels
what would i know though i am a stickleback in the a massive pond
ie i couldnt make a ripple let alone a wave if I tried
I do believe it will decrease the number of players and increase the number of games that have to be rearranged due to sudden illnesses that strike through teams (cough cough cough) or more correctly as they can not field full teams when players are away or watching their own team
