I attended a volunteers evening last night along with all the other volunteers and I've got to say that I'm very excited for the future of our club.

The board and Rob have done a great job in the few months they've been in charge and I can say with hand on heart that our club is in very safe hands.

Well done guys, I think you're doing a great job.

Good to hear that mish, well done to all concerned.

The best (and most important) news of the night for me was the fact that we will be debt free before the end of the year.

Oh and I think I've fallen in love with Mike Norris.

I did notice you weren't there Michael and I personally told another person who also hadn't been invited. I can only imagine that they don't have a complete list of all the volunteers but I'm sure this will be rectified ASAP.

I'm not sure who put the invite list together but I know Stefan Sale was missed off only by chance I exchanged emails with him yesterday. As it turned out he couldn't make it.

On to the positives since we took over we have worked hard to reduce the debt right down and the club is in the best position its been for a very long time with a small overdraught and Directors loans no longer.

The money we have put in as Directors and have pledged to put in over a three year period lays a platform for the business but as you heard from the horses mouth our very own Finance Director the Handsome Mr Norris we now need the people of Leigh to come out and prove they want a SL team and get behind this club.

We have a strong BOD all investing professional time and cash, we've appointed a great Chairman who speaks well and portrays the right image for the business, a hungry young coach who's making a name for himself as a head coach whos retained his current crop of stars and has been given the budget to go out and match the best in this league next season and the finest volunteers and staff any club could ask for.

Add to this we have a very loyal fan base and great spectators we just need to get MORE people in that stadium next season by whatever means possible because if we generate the revenue SL is a very real prospect trust me and not far away either.

I've posted with confidence on here for a few months because I've known what we are building behind the scenes for 2014 and beyond and if we get that final ingredient (bums on seats) we will live the dream.

Once again on behalf of the BOM thanks to all our volunteers and staff paid or unpaid.

Just to clarify the situation if I may, we are indeed "The Board" the "Board of Management" was i think devised by former Chairman Keith Freer prior to us guys taking over control of the buisness and subsequently restructuring it.

In the early days it was Keiths intention to have a Supervisory Board and also a BOM that basically ran the club on a day to day basis however we now only have a Chairman and "Board of Directors" which is us guys the Original BOM and the name has stuck.

We as a Board voted and appointed John Roddy as new our Chairman after he took on the roll initially on a interim basis when Keith left the club and he's a great choice and he is a great figurehead for our very strong BOD.

We are each investing thousands of pounds per year into the club and have agreed to do so on a long term basis, so not to jepodise the club in future no cash is going in as a Director loans and is going in as investment/ donations for shares.

Anyone who knows our FD knows we have one of the best numbers men in the buisness governing the finances and he gives confidence to us all that the budgets are set correctly and we only spend what can afford to.

The buisness is now Operating with no Directors Loans to past Directors and with a vastly reduced overdraft and will be debt free in the next week or so which is massive in the current climate and very rare in RL period.

A combination of mine and fellow directors investments and increased commercial revenue will fund full time coaching staff next year and the strongest squad Leigh Centurions have had for a number of years and we believe in our coaching staff and the team Paul is building and are backing them to deliver for us in 2014.

On a commercial front Our 2014 shirt sponser for example will be a record equalling sponsorship deal not seen at Leigh since maybe SL days if ever and is a serious high profile sponser which our commercial manager Rob Parker has worked overtime to land and will be announced very soon.

Ticket offers and other deals have been put together to attract families and children and we will have event days and a completely revamped match day experience at LSV next season to rival any team in SL.

With the above it's clear we're we want to be and indeed were we intend to be and I we hope people are encouraged by the fact we are doing it in a sustainable manner which wont ever endanger the clubs existence and hope the community really buys in to what we want to deliver for them.

PS I need to get the signed balls to you for mickys boxing night, will catch up with you ASAP.

I know haw much you do mate and hard you work to raise funds for LISA rest assured.

I didnt play any roll in the invitation process indeed I've been away so didn't do much on the niht other than say a few words and eat a pasty.

Again sorry to anyone who was overlooked please be assured everyone who does anything no matter how much or little is truly valued by the club.

Will buy you a pint next time I see you buddy to make up for it

Ha ha no worries mate we actually like the name sounds more hands on and buisness like than an old fashioned BOD.

Whatever we are called we are doing our best for the town and club and need bums on seats next year.

For the last few seasons we've always seemed to have the elephant in the room when it comes to finances , debt and in all honesty wondering what kind of future the club has.
For the first time in a long, long time it looks as if we have some real reasons to be very optimistic about the clubs long term future.
10/10 to all those working behind the scenes to turn the whole club around from top to bottom.

Andy , thank you for your reply , I do understand some people were missed out , it happens , what got to me was the Fact posted on here about Volunteers being invited , when many who attended were more than Volunteers , im not going to point the finger , its not my style , and I fundraise for my love of the Club .

While on here we are having a Christmas Special Poker Night , and as well as Cash prizes , we have a Big Christmas Draw , I would like to meet you to discuss the Club , donating a couple of Prizes for this , as Trevor has done for the past couple of years , thanks ,Ian .

Final comment on Volunteers night and once again sorry to anyone who missed out but I think the invites were done on the basis of people doing things in a official club capacity but non paid either on match days or in the various teams in and around LSV (communications, media, retail etc etc). I think Lynda represented LISA but not sure how the invite list was made up and like I say didn't have anything what so ever to do with it. It was a off the cuff thing we decided as a Board would be a nice thing to do.

It was our way of trying to recognise what great work people do for the love of the club and I didn't even know half the people as we had never met if im honest but the thank you is personally extended to you and everyone else who does great work and supports the club like you do and rest assured you wont be missed off again mate.

Just like to say what a nice touch it was to be recognised and thanked by the club. You really can't beat the personal touch.

And Andy will vouch for me when I say I only had one pasty!!



And on that subject, I was somewhat disturbed to hear THREE of our BOD refer to the rather nice pasties as [size=150PIES[/size!!

I know I usually come on here with posts that aren't necessarily positive, but I would like to take the opportunity to thank personally all the volunteers, without whom there would definitely be no club. I know how thankless it is to work in a sports club on a voluntary basis and I'm sure all fans would extend a very warm thankyou. Good on the BOD as well for recognising them. I really do think this club is going in the right direction and at a pace none of us would have believed 12 months ago. A big thank you to everyone involved - paid or unpaid.
That doesn't mean I'll stop post anything that will keep you on your toes though, Andy

A great evening Rob asked for contact number s for other Lisa helpers which I sent him, for whatever reason they didn't get the invite .for Ian I was upset as we have have raised over £2000 three years running from theses events, myself and Ian give up every Tuesday to run the poker nights.
last night I got in from work at 6 made the tea for all and rushed out at 7 to set up the poker with Ian and got in at 11.35 (£35) richer lol but Im up at 6.30 every day so a lot of effort is put in by Ian .

I think now is the time to get a full database of all volunteers, contact details and the roles they play at the club.

your game is much better than mine , at the moment , as you know I enjoy making every penny we raise for the Club , and admit to enjoying the Poker , though at times the nights are long being there early setting things up , last night wasn't to bad ,hopefully we can start building a good following again , and get a good Christmas Event organised , as good or better than last year .
