Why are we playing Thursday night when the match isn't on Premier ?

It's a full night of Championship games, never known scheduled games within days of the CC Final before.

Don't mind the ground its the getting to it on a thursday night !

Very true I remember arriving very late a couple of seasons ago , they put the kick-off back , and some Leythers still missed the first Leigh try , but we won .

There has been the odd one in the past (usually involving Sheffield for some reason), this this is the first time they've had to fit in so many league games in addition to the NRC.

There was no free weekend in the Chamionship calendar hence everyone playing Cc week

The reason for the Thursday programme of games is as Matt and 'Dick' state.

Premier Sports this week, (after recently having moved from THURSDAY to WEDNESDAY) is the FRIDAY game between London Skolars and N. Wales Crusaders. Bet that's a good game, too.

Yes, because we play so many games that all the clubs have a surplus of cash.

I wonder if 3pm Monday would have been better than a Thursday night ?
After all the priority for the Championship clubs would no doubt be to maximise interest and revenue and I'm not sure playing midweek at night will really do that.
True some people from other clubs may still go to Wembley to watch the final but if its known in advance they could easily get back for Monday and maybe this way those who have no interest in the CC final would still have a better chance of watching the club they support play over the extended weekend.

Agree entirely. but the Mindset on this one was to let the players have the Bank Holiday Weekend to themselves!!

Iain my friend , we are now entering the most interesting part of the Season , I think we could have a fully fit Squad , hopefully , come Play-offs time , the Leythers will be ready to make their play for the GF .Ian .

Can anyone explain why 2 Super League clubs playing a game on a Saturday afternoon in London should prevent Championship clubs from playing on a Sunday afternoon?

Wembley weekend is seen as a traditional weekend in London for ALL RL fans - who are ALL obviously that passionate about SL.

And if we played on Sunday - frankb would not be able to go and show his support for the 'Wigooners' on that day 'Down South'

If we had played on Sunday I could have gone, but working Thursday,

having looked at the remaining fixtures it will be the play offs at best before I can go next with playing on different days.

I know Alan wasn't having a go at Premier Sports, but if he was, SO WHAT ?
So they give the RFL 'a few pennies' for televising the 2 'non promotion' leagues. How does each club benefit exactly ?

Regards Wembley I'm not going for the first time in years.This year i'll be spending the weekend in Birmingham ,on the pop, a bit like a Wemblingham trip but without the necessity to purchase a ticket and not as far to travel for the weekend.

Batley is one of my Favourite away grounds , a nice drive , very welcoming , good Burgers , and Mrs Caroli reminded me , we held our Wedding Reception , at the Mount , a few years ago , Happy Days .
