| Was cancelled yesterday afternoon, due to not enough people commiting to buying tickets and it wasn't fair on The Landlord Kevin who had organised the event to make LISA some money. We did go ahead with a poker game however but only 9 people entered( me and LISA's chairman 2 of them)so we didn't do it as a fund raiser just money went for 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes.
Kath who had never played a game of poker in her life came third, a special Thanks to kath who always supports LISA events.
A big Thank you to Kevin from the Bull and Butcher, who idea it was and Mike for the lovely food, just a shame it wasn't supported as we had hoped. I came second, but I didn't celebrate as I was hurting too much with the shame I felt at telling Kevin it would be a good turnout. Absolutely gutted, sorry. Lynda

| Lynda,
One thing to consider not all LISA members get on here. Maybe worth grabbing members contact details (as many as they will give) when renewing memberships to enable such as events to be emailed etc....
I know your pushing events on FB but also worth considering other routes...

| It was in the programme, I did ask for it to be annouced (sp)at our two home games, didn't hear it though, I put tickets in Jitterbugs and they had a poster up and people going in for shirts would have seen it. Believe me people did know about it, and if we had gone ahead with the orgianal date, I think it would have been a sucess.
To be honest the events most fans support involve the team, which I asked if we could get them involved, if it had been annouced by the club earlier, they only put it on the website Thursday, and that some of the team would be in attendance, we would have filled the venue and made a couple of grand. Looked how everyone backed the play.

| Linda my heart hurts for you, organising these events and getting little take up can be soul destroying. Keep yer pecker up.
If I may offer advice, if you are to continue to try and run these things, it is that an 'event' must be attractive to the audience and deemed value for money in todays climate.
You need a small team of people willing to 'sell' the event, ie take a table of 10 each to get the event off the ground. You need to be aware of location, now we dont have the MM bar and Cheshire Catering, especially ease and cost of access if folk are going to drink. You also need to be aware of timing eg post Christmas or the week before payday when folk are skint will always be a challenge.
It is certainly a lot harder at LSV to organise fundraisers, why not look at joint efforts with East or Miners, Cricket Club even RU club - especially RU and Cricket clubs due to room size and catering.

| I think perhaps a lot of people used the Friday match as their night out & are probably skint. Don't let it get you down though Linda

I have got about 5 people who work their socks off for LISA and they do a lot as it is, getting more to help is almost impossible.
The venue was there because it was Kevs idea.
Has I said it maybe needed a bit more publicity from the club, ie in their bit in the free paper etc.
Anyway Im open to ideas from you all as to what event to try next ie what would you all support.

| Dick, I personally wouldn't bother.
You have poker night and forecast comp, arrange a bike ride to Fax or somewhere and have a raffle.

| We will have a raffle on February 15 Mo. Hope you come along to the next meeting at the Lancastrian Squash club.
Oh' and I think a bike ride over the Pennines when we play Fax is a great idea although I would have to set off 3 days before kick off.

| Have LISA ever done a "Sportsmans Evening"? I know they are generally a men only affair but they do tend to raise a bit of money, especially if you get the right "Sportsman" and comedian.

They tend to work best when done by an actual sports club , rather than a supporters group, but if you want to organise one, away you go

| There s lots of things we could do but without people supporting it..........
Reason I was so upset, Kev suggested cancelling it Tuesday and I said don't as I'd spoke to quite a few the days leading up to this and the Tues and even my friends said they were attending and Kev said he'd sold 12 tickets.
If I knew on Tuesday these friends weren't coming I would have cancelled it when Kev suggested it.
Anyway its gone now, be a long time before I consider having another event.

| What has been LISA's biggest fundraisers ever
Bike ride to Fev
Bike ride to Oldham
Walk to Widnes
Forecast comp and Poker nights are great ways of raising a bit often to amount to a lot.
The Sportsmans were never attended, the race nights in the MM always raised about a grand due mainly to sponsorship sold and sit down meal, with commitee taking tables to ensure 100 attended.
The fans participation whereby THEY do something and get sponsorship will always generate the income as many fans can give a few quid and a lot is then raised.

Lynda, i think if it had gone ahead on the original night it would have been better attended, as i could not make it on the other date and know a few more who couldn't, i know there was nothing you could have done as you didn't cancel it, it's a shame really for the people who put all the effort into it.
