| Would it help if fans paid for tickets now via the Touchdown Club and if so would it also help the club to pay the players for what the club owes them quicker ?
That being the case I shall send my money off on Monday.

I asked one of the guys behind the idea, that very same question. Usually, the club wants cash up front, but I was told that usually got swallowed up, and the club then has a shortfall, each month during the season. It was felt that spreading the payments over 11 months actually helps the club, via a regular cash flow.

| Well thanks for that Alan but like a lot of others I think somehow we have got to ensure our players and club staff are paid what is owed them and I shall be raising the question of how we fans can help to do that at the next LISA meeting.

Hopefully Frank, when the RFL advances us some of next season's monies, the players and staff (no-one mentioned them on Wednesday) will be paid, providing they accept [ix[/i pence (not sure if the exact amount was quoted on Wed, so I'm not quoting it on here!) in the £. Overall, the players would not be much worse off, given the tax implications and two months' pay in advance.

Alan the players will be xx amount of pence in the pound worse off no matter how we/you try to dress it up. How we can possibly front up to this years squad with a compromise offer is nothing short of scandalous.

| I say if the full amount required is obtained then they should be paid in full. To begin with they don't know how much is going to be raised. Unless its of course xx pence in the pound for the time being

| What you have to decide is if the club goes into administration you will almost certainly lose that money and have to pay again. It happened to some of our fans who had paid early and when the club went bang all the money was gone.
Ultimately you have to grasp the nettle as Hornets did and start living within your means and accept that you may never get to the promised land of Super League.
At Hornets we have been living within strict budgets and actually broke even in 2010, now how many clubs can say that? Stanky accepts that he has a limit and he does the best he can with it and does the rest with motivation etc.
We are now building slowly from the bottom but we get higher each year and where we will end up? Well only time will tell.
The question you have to ask is could you settle for Championship or Championship One as the only level you can achieve?
Pugwash.

No disrespect but Miners are a bigger club than Hornets, so if our future was that of your club I would prefer we shut up shop and watched Miners/East now they play in summer.

Ste, I too think it's a great shame that the club can't find a way to pay them 100 pence in the pound. If they had, or could get, the money, I'm sure they would do. However, everyone connected with the club is 'feeling the pain' at the moment, and I believe the players fully understand this.

| Maurice, by claiming that 'Miner' are a bigger club than Hornets is in itself disrespectful.
As a semi-professional club Hornets have to fulfill many more obligations than an amateur club have to. Leigh Miners are a very well run organisation but if they were to enter the Championship[ One they would have to make much bigger decisions as regards most of the facets or running a sporting organisation is concerned.
Anyway, as I said in my original post, Leigh can go one of two ways.
1. Work out what each bidget can be given by calculating the realistic income the club will get over the season and then give each department a budget based on those figures.
2. You can continue to employ players like Hunter-Paul who command massive salaries and risk the possibility of a shortfall at the end of the season.
I don't want to see any club being lost as we need everyone but going down the second option is always likely to end with tears before bedtime!
Small though Hornets may be, all our players and staff got paid last month!
Pugwash.

| obviously paying the players/staff is important, but surely getting hmrc of our backs has to be the priority, they are the guys who could wind us up, all you have to do is look at oldham and various other clubs who have had years of problems with hmrc.

We're going for option 1, Pugwash. We have now got rid of our higher earners. With R H-P there were other benefits, but you're right, nobody in this league should be able to afford SL-type contracts - or overseas' players, come to that.
