For a wonderful season, despite last nights result, we have been on a truly enjoyable journey this season, the wonderful win in the NRC final, the thrashings of Widnes.
The show you put on for us and LISA, what a real good bunch of lads youve been.
I wish you all the best in whatever you do next and hope that most of you will be still with us next season.
A special mention to Chris Hill, thanks for many brilliant years wearing our shirt, thanks for the memories and good luck at Warrington, hope to see you at the LSV in a friendly next season.
Im sure we will see you watching from the terrace when Wire have no game.
Still gutted about last night, but I saw on all your faces at the end what it meant to you all, you was all as gutted as us.

Agreed. Been the best season for a long while, great games and days against Widnes (x3), Catalans and in Blackpool.

In the seven seasons that Hilly has played for us, we haven't won a single play-off game, so there's always hope for next year!



Regardless of last night, nobody can deny that this season has been a top year. Some great days out, some really good atmospheres and some great performances. A season that will live long in the memory.

Well said DJ. Thanks to Basil and all the lads for the efforts this season. A great set of lads with a fantastic team spirit, and at times quite honestly some of the best rugby league I've ever seen. I had far more than my season ticket moneys worth in entertainment value well before we even got to Blackpool, so the rest was all a bonus. Hope we can keep as many of the lads as possible, but all the best to those who are moving on & I hope Chris & Jamie do us proud in Superleague

Agree with all that has been said here - this has been a fantastic season to be involved with, and some priceless memories to savour:

The consecutive thrashings of SDL's new whipping boys!!....and maintaining our record against them at the Stobart!! We'll miss the guaranteed six points over the coming seasons!!

Blackpool - the 'never say die' attitude, and off the cuff nature of our play this season epitomised in one magical move with less than a minute left on the clock!!

Try of the season (and of many a season!) away at Fev on Easter Monday...Nanyn planting one in the corner, infront of the travelling Leythers - after a sweeping move down field, were the ball went through about eight pairs of hands.....then 'The Magic Boot' having the composure to add the extras, from the touchline, and tie the game!! Maintaining our unbeaten start to the season, and it felt as good as a victory!!

That 'never say die' attitude again summed up by the victory up at Barrow, were we came back from a 14point deficit on no fewer than three occasions to secure the victory!!

Overall though - the team spirit!!

Best of luck to Basil - I hope the Cas fans realise how good a coach they are getting!! If we do ever get back to the 'top table', I'd love to see him back at this spiritual home!!

Thanks to RHP - It has been a pleasure to see a genuine modern era league legend pull on a Leigh shirt...and fair play to the lad for coming back from the freak early season injury to play out his farewell season, when it would have been easier to just take the money and keep his feet up!! Best of luck with the media career.

Best of luck to Jamie Ellis....although he has been out of sorts in the last few weeks (and the disappointment was etched on his face last night as I shook his hand, and wished him well), he has this season been head and shoulders above any other scrum-half in this division, and I hope the confidence he'll have derived from his season under the tutelage of Basil will allow him to make a go of things at Hull.

Chris Hill - what can we say!! A fantastic servant to the club over the last 7 seasons (7 seasons at a club outside SL is virtually unheard of these days!!)
More than deserves his shot at SL, and I have no doubt he'll be in the Warrington first team next season, and will be an England regular by the time the World Cup comes round in 2013!! I hope Chris and his lovely family will continue to come and see how we are getting on without him - Wire fixtures permitting. Best of luck Chris - but I don't think you'll need it!!





To the rest of the lads - thanks for a fantastic season. To those who move on, all the best. Fingers crossed we avoid the potential decimation of the current squad, but I hope we continue to make the best of what we end up with.....and a great opportunity for the 'next generation' to make the step up to the first team - let's hope that over the coming seasons we can create that production line of local quality youngsters that the successful SDL clubs manage. If we are to emege as a true community club, these local youngsters will help form that bond between players and fans.

Here's to the future - strap yourselves in for that roller-coaster ride that is the life of a Leyther!!!





And remember......its only another 10 years 'til we are due to win the Challenge Cup again!!!

Great bunch of lads the Centurions loved every minute of this season ( apart from the last two )
highlights Cup win at Blackpool and the Challenge Cup match against the Catalan Dragons both brilliant games the lads have played some brilliant rugby thanks to all of them and the coaching staff the dual contract lads who gave 100% every match and brought that little extra zip to the team special mention to Arthur Thomas who put so much into the club thanks a million Mr Thomas for all your help over the past few years.. Thanks to Chris Hill for being a true legend at Leigh a special player who gave 100% every match every year Wire have got one hell of a nice guy and top class pro RL player.. Good Luck to Ian Millward hope you have a good few years mate at Cas there a great team with top class supporters good luck to Jamie Ellis hope you have a great SL career Jamie.Special mention to all time great and all round nice guy Robbie Hunter Paul hope the future is very special for you and your family Robbie your input has been top class this season. I agree with all the above. Pity about the last two games, when we were almost running on empty, but now the initial disappointment is fading, there have been some fantastic memories from a true TEAM.

At the start of the season if someone said to any leyther you'll finish 2nd, get knocked out at the semi stages, have a good crack at the challenge cup, score over 700 points, average more than 2300+ attendance and win the northern rail cup they would snatch your hand off like free lobby was being offered with every of pint beer at the lsv!!! A great season and i will be renewing my season ticket next year.

Again agree with everything above, been a pleasure to watch the leythers home and away . Now I just hope the club get stuck in and show us what's happenIng next year. If they need help with anything aswell ask for volunteers . I'm free Sundays for the next few month

Absolutely right and now that the dust has settled and people have had time to reflect i really hope they think about the majority of the season and not just the latter stages.
It really has been one of the most enjoyable seasons in the last 15 years.

Cannot disagree with any of whats been said.

We've performed brilliantly and its been done against a backdrop of off field drama yet the lads held out, at the end we ran out of gas and perhaps we had one drama too much, lets not forget the last 2 sides played very well to beat us - neither result was a disgrace.

Having said that it cannot detract from what has been a fantastic season.

The coaching team and players this season have been responsible for me and my family watching some of the best RL played by Leigh for years - we have been entertained by these players playing the game the way it should be played.

The NRC Final was a fantastic day out and the comparrison to our last NRC was like chalk and cheese -this was a unique team we watched play coached by a unique guy and his team, the team spirit went from field of play to terracing all season with ease - no mean feat these days, the feel good factor came back.

I hope as many of the players and staff stay with us as is possible but to those that are leaving be it retiring or moving on to pastures new I thank you for your efforts and for giving 110% week in week out.
I wish you well and hope you have success and enjoyment in whatever your doing - of couse that doesn't extend to if your ever playing against Leigh
