... the 2006 NR Cup final or 2000 Grand Final did. I'm getting a really feel good vibe about this final, think everyone who goes (both sides) will be out to have a good time watching good rugby. Win or lose I expect to enjoy the day - the Dewsbury Grand Final is one of my fondest memories supporting Leigh, as it was such an enjoyable day out.

P.S If anyone has it on video, I'm the very nervous looking young lad who gets focused on when we're lining up for the equalising conversion. Face painted in cherry & white too! Still my only claim to fame...

This build up is already way better than 2006, I'd say.

Thought 2006 build up was a let down. If I remember rightly there was a growing cloud of doom by some at that time, and along with the 101 excuses many seemed to think we had already lost and chose not to go.
The actual day was just the best though for those with the faith and went


This time round there seems real excitement of getting to the final - just shows what 5 years of missing out on finals does on making you appreciate them more once there.

Also Matt is ridiculous how much you have been on TV over the years - seems every live game there you are. You need to get a shirt sponsor of your own and cash in

That's exactly what I was thinking. There must have been about two dozen Leigh fans staying overnight as we were hopelessly outnumbered in the clubs on the Saturday night!

One of the lads on the Wigan board had a go at making a Facebook collection of my Sky appearances with the assistance of Sky+, though he didn't tape my interview on the prom in the Sky build up to the 2006 final!

The build up wasn't good in 2006, and the turnout by Leigh fans was poor for a final. However, knowing that we, the loyal & faithful, were there that day to support our lads while the naysayers watched in the pub was a great feeling. Seeing the lads turn it on and make us proud was awesome. I felt on top of the world as I left the ground that day.

And I can say, along with most or all of you on here, that I was there that day. I witnessed us beating the biggest rugby league club the universe has ever seen.

2000 was also my year to be on't Telly


Can't quite remeber if it was granada reports or northwest tonight. but i was sat at home watching and they said they had 10 grandfinal tickets to give away. They then went on to say if you know were we are the first 5 to get here will get a pair. I was out that door like a flash (even though i had already bought mine and mi dads) straight down to outside of leigh east were i was greeted with a camera stuffed straight in my face happy days then obviously sad ones thereafter.

We'll get one being 'has-beens' one day - then watch out world!
