Leigh Miners make the trip over the pennine's to Halifax tomorrow afternoon when they play Siddal at Chevinedge, Kick Off 2-30pm. Miners will be looking to bounce back from Tuesday nights derby defeat against Leigh East but they can expect a tough test from last years Grand Finalist who are unbeaten at home all season. Siddal are currently in fourth place level on 26 points with Miners who are in third but with Siddal having three games in hand they are favourate's to finish third or even higher, with Miners knowing realisticly a fourth place finish is probably their best finish depending on results from now to the end of season.

may have 3 games in hand, but have 7 games to play in 22 days.....think that's gonna be a challenge on it's own. pro's complain about playing 3 or 4 in a 2 week period...just think about the amatuer game where it's worse! Anyway should be a cracking game!

od as well as other teams in the amatuer game doing the same, some of the pro players like peacock whos always moanin about playin too many games want to take a look in the mirror and realise they get payed very well to play a game they love and only play once a week apart from easter how lucky the are

Siddal 34 v 16 Leigh Miners

Leigh Miners slipped down to fourth in the NCL and were replaced in third place by Siddal who produced an impressive performance yesterday afternoon to run out 34-16 at Chevinedge to put them in with a good shout of yet another top two finish. Both teams produced an hard working first half performance but as far as the scoring went it was all the home side, Miners had an early advantage when Siddal had a man sin binned for a professional foul but they were unable to make the extra man count as the home side had the better of the posession and kept Miners pinned in their own half. The host scored their opening try after about 20 minutes after some good play down the right saw them score in the corner to give them a 4-0 advantage. Two further tries followed before the break after having much of the field position and playing simple basic rugby to give them a deserved 16-0 advantage.

Miners started the second half the brighter and were back in the game with an early Lee Gittins try, Gary Dunn converting to give the score 16-6. Any hopes of a Miners comeback were soon dashed as Siddal took control of the game scoring three well worked trys to put them in command at 34-6. It looked like the game could end up with Siddal running riot but full credit to Miners they battled hard in the final quarter scoring two tries from Gary Gittins and Adam Thomason, Lee Gittins converting Thomason's try to give the final score 34-16. Siddal will now be confident of securing a top two finish with Miners knowing there last three games are must win if they want to go into the playoffs with at least one home tie but even then they will be hoping the teams below them slip up if they are to finish in fourth place.

Next week Miners are away to Wigan St Judes.
