I hope we get a decent turnout and we can find out which player supped most after our last victory.

Folk should get there if they can and show Basil that they care about our club.

I'm sure he will give an interesting few answers to fans questions.

That was the worst turn out for a LISA meeting in a long time and I was embrassed greatly asking Ian Millward to take time out of a busy week that hes had to attend, especially disappointed as this was the AGM. I dont really know what else I could do to get more members to attend to be honest, no matter where we have the meetings someones not happy..........

Start new job on Monday so no more nights working away....... should be able to start going to the meetings from now on.

I was there last night and would agree entirely re the turnout. I did like the idea of branding monthly LISA membership as a 'squad builder' fund and maybe having quarterly meetings may be the way to go to save Basil's time and make them more of an 'event' - quizzes, guest speakers etc

I didn't go - SuperLeigh lottery collection night. Probably missed only 3 or 4 meetings from the start of LISA but to be honest I usually come away thinking "Well that was a waste of time" - same 5 or 6 people asking pointless questions to players who are obviously uncomfortable answering questions to a small audience. IM & Robbie Paul are the exception as they are excellent speakers.
Obviously people are happy to donate £5 per month but not interested in these little Q & A sessions. I know several of my friends stopped attending years ago due to the format and nothings changed since then.
I don't know the answer but maybe it's time for a complete revamp of LISA. It was forned when times were bad and fans rallied round to fund raise etc. All that has now gone.

I used to attend when they did a draw for a free meal at the next game!!



Like Leigh24.7 says the meetings were very rarely productive - just a usual clique asking the same old questions. The average Joe Shmo didn't get much of an input so happy to stump up the dosh but no intention of giving up an hour for nowt!

I have been a member since day 1 and can count on both hands how many times i have attended due to the above in bold.

On the 20 th May, we are doing a Quiz night instead of a meeting, teams from Leigh East, The centurions and Lisa so far entered,more teams are welcome.
I agree with the comments on her re the meetings although what the answer is I dont know and whether theres enough members willing to help resolve it neither. Ideas welcome.

Just to say though and this is food for thought.......

LISA was set up to raise funds to buy players with and it still does that, however the figures we raise now are considerably less.
However what everyone needs to remember is the more money we raise the better squad we can have, therefore the better chance we have of getting more fans through the turnstiles, which then gives us a better chance of getting the FRANCHISE be it 2012 or 2015. This is the most important thing fans need to consider, its not about attending meetings and maybe we need to focus on finding other things to do instead of meetings.

Big problem at moment is all IM is seeing both at meetings and attendances is apathy,

I thought beforehand that it was a bad idea inviting IM as I expected a very low turnout - AGM or not.

Linda, LISA needs to evolve. Stagnate and die is a common saying, LISA is almost dead as a fans pressure group, so what does it do next. Merge it with the Corporate club, get rid of the monthly meeting? Turn it into an official supporters club, organising travel/fundraising? Turn it into an ISA and buy into the club?

LISA decided not to move a few years ago when the road ahead was collapsing its now collapsed, but a supporters group has such a big role to play in moving our club forward.

It needs a real leader ( defn somebody who gets others to do what he/she wants them to do because they want to do it) It doesnt need an administrator, it has to be exciting, dynamic and vibrant - good luck.

Read Tommy Sale's book - he used to be President of the old supporters club - give him the title!

I think you're better having quarterly meetings, but like has been said maybe LISA needs to be rebranded and for that you need support from the club.

For me you need the clubs support. Get them to give you:

A LISA bar
A LISA box - if there is one that is not sold for the game then LISA can have it for £100 or nothing!
Allow a LISA member to travel with the squad etc

You need tp be able to offer the members something new, clearly in today's climate people are unwilling to give £5 month for a meeting,

Not sure what else has been offered in the past - but re-introduce them and look at what other rugby/football clubs are offering and get LISA thriving again

these are something the club have no control over whatsoever, how many times does it need posting before it sinks in?

as for travelling with the players? i don't think that would be very professional of the club to just let any tom dick or harriet to travel on the team coach, do you?

Linda what does LISA contribute now, its peak was circa £35k which at the time was more than the lottery.
If you are down to £10-15k then move to an official supporters club working as part of the club, with a 2 level membership fee, the £5 a month Squadbuilders and £5 a year members.
