after watching a couple of them soft soccer matches on T.V. over the weekend,I was very surprised to see the number of players poncing about the field wearing gloves, I'll tell you this for nowt if I was a manager I would say to them "where do you think you are going with those gloves on get em off you soft gets " I dont know whatever is the world coming too, I really dont they will be turning out in long john's, scarves and overcoats next .

The first two have already happened; Bullard had a scarf on on Saturday IIRC and Chimbonda wears tights on a regular basis, not just when playing football.

There's far bigger things to worry/get annoyed about with regards to football, than players wearing gloves IMO.

Perhaps if the ran around doing something instead poncing about they might not feel the cold!

Chimbonda's been wearing gloves since August. In fact i think he's been wearing glover since he 1st signed for W***n.

Was it Dale Cardoza that used to wear gloves while at Leigh???



You see alot of players wearing gloves in RU and they also have pockets in there shorts the bunch of girls

I remember Tom the Pom sending me pair of 'rugby gloves' which I passed on to a certain player for evaluation, trouble is he played with his fingers strapped up and put the gloves on AFTER strapping up, having to cut the fingers off to get them on


Me and Jason Donaghue talked about bringing in a load but I couldn't raise the cash at the time, they weren't used at all then, but loads of RU players use them now, story of my life that missed opportunities

They seemed to disappear from the RL scene just as quickly as they appeared.

Summat to do with summer rugby?

though lets face it starting in Jan is hardly spring time

my son who plays for Sandbach under 8's uses them all the time! he tells me its easier to rip the tags off! no contact for him yet till next year! and no he does not live here in Leigh with me! but with his mother in Sandbach!

Don't see what the problem is. As someone else said there are far worse problems to worry about. If it was someone playing for me they could wear a duffle coat and a balaclava as long as they played their hearts out.

As mentioned earlier, Dale Cardoza was one for wearing them, so it was certainly within the summer era.


Are the 'catching' gloves banned that Cardoza (and I [ithink[/i Marcus St Hilaire) used to wear?

I know the "stick mitts" gloves are banned in junior RL not heard owt about the pro game though.

You wouldn't have needed them mate you never got close enough to the ball
