Your right finished out of relegation places but relegation was suspended that season. In fact it was Simms first season he took over in the Nov of that season and won his first game against St Helens. That season plenty people walked on easter monday to save the ground and we walloped Salford that afternoon. I think it was the 1992/93 season or Maybe 1991/92??
That historic game at Widnes saw me leap the terrace at the old Naughton Park and run straight into the arms of Lee Hansen at the full time hooter. Knee deep in mud, fantastic day!

| 1992-93 season was that and the Widnes game was played on Jason Donohue's 21st birthday - it was an amazing last ten minutes in that game.

| Collier scored the winning try against Widnes I believe. According to Wembley71's sister Ray French, on the radio, announced the try scorer as Currier which as you can imagine threw her for a while. Rember Dean Hanger scoring a try out of the blue which put us in with a chance.
Simms was present at the Saints win but only took control of the team at the next match.
Best match for me at Widnes was JP quarter final when Des scored 3 tries and we won 35-31 or something like that. Those were the days.

| I've still got this game on video. One of the funniest moments is when Troy Clark chips over the Widnes defence for a Leigh try and the Widnes commentator starts screaming forward pass!!

| I went, but our kid was listening on Radio Merseyside, with Ray French commentating. Apparently a couple of minutes from the end he was going 'Collier, Andy Collier, Collier's has scored', and our kid went nuts, only to find out the daft twonk meant Andy Currier, and Widnes were in front again with a minute to go. And we all know what happened next... but our kid didn't believe the commentary until we got home.
