| that players choose not to come to Leigh on loan when some of our so called supporters just love to bad mouth anyone that does look like he should be playing for GB.
Let us look at that word "Supporter"
Definition: A person who supports or champions an activity, cause, or institution, for example.
Synonyms: backer, benefactor, contributor, friend, sponsor
where in that does it say jump on the people you so called support when things aren't going as well as you'd like.
certain people on here should hang their heads in shame, i shan't name them as they know who they are.
If your not sure whom i mean just look at the last couple of weeks negative threads and the "usual suspects" are there for all to be seen.
I'm not asking for blind faith but i AM asking you take a look at yourselves as ask yourself "am i really a supporter?" or just someone who is really bitter at someone or something that happened in the past.
Or.... are you just someone who likes to dish it out on here because you can't do it face to face with people? i believe the phrase is "keyboard warrior"

| The trouble is, internet message boards are 21st century tap rooms.
I'm sure there were folk whining in the pubs and clubs about Murphy and Ashcroft or Drummond and Woods in days gone by, but now every man and his dog can hear their whining. Plus, Leythers are the most fickle fans in the land.
No, its not good watching at the moment, its next door to boring in fact, because its largely a young side, its a bit unsettled in that we've not got a consistant 1-13 all season, we seem incapable of throwing the ball about, and we're lacking a leader.
Sacking the manager and going back to signing hasbeens, drunks, and prima-donnas might be the answer for some, personally I'd rather perservere with a 2 year plan of keeping who we have and developing them as best we can.
We'll never be world beaters with this squad, but I believe they are straight honest and hardworking. With plenty of support, confidence, consistancy time, and rub of the green, they could mature into something half decent.
If it fails, fair enough, but as long as I have a hole in my @rse, sacking NK and spending money we dont have on the aforementioned neh'dowells wont help either.

| Most supporters i know are fed up becase with the building of the new stadium we expected a new era with a few better than average players to bring in new fans and to get back those what have gone awol over he past few years ..What we got in most peoples opinion that ive spoken to is a team of young players who have been got on the cheap while around the rest of the division teams have signed some great players who can entertain the crowd with powerful exciting RL no wonder people are fed up
this is the first team ive seen at Leigh in years that has,nt got one STAND OUT PLAYER a player who can excite the crowd whenever he gets the ball
i,m not knockin the lads who put their bodys on the line week in week out
but the people who run the club are living in the Twilight Zone if they think
people will come flooding back to support Leigh in there new home without
have a couple of star names to attract them its ENTERTAINMENT RL these days people want to have the feelgood factor not going home from watching a Leigh team get stuffed week in week out by teams they should be knocking 40 past. The people who run this club have made a massive mistake this season by not taking a chance to promote the club by bringing in a couple of names to try and get people to watch a good entertaining brand of RL instead we are left with a young team struggling
by no fault of there own.. All is not lost yet it only needs 3 decent players of a higher calibire to help these lads out a half / back JW hopefully on his way what we need is two big line breaking forwards who can lead the team forward and show leadership and experience when things are going wrong and maybe just maybe people will start coming to watch a winning team.....But if the Directors of Leigh Centurions think people will pay £16
plus to watch a team of young players struggle week in week out they are
blinder than i thought....
ME i have watched Leigh since 1963 home n away and will continue to do so but i,m dissapointed with things as they are at the moment with the management of Leigh C with their complete amatuer way of trying to
build a successful club if it was,nt so sad it would be laughable..

| Can anyone tell me who we have signed in the last 20 years who has made a significant impact on our attendances?
Each top player on say 40k a year needs 400 additional folk through the gates.
Would we get another 1200 on if we had them?
No chance. We were the best team outside SL for 5 years and still only got 2500.

The reason players wont come on loan to LEIGH is nowt whatsoever to do with the supporters FACT NOT FICTION !!!
Why do players go to a club like Barrow on loan with its poor facilities ect ect and not Leigh .......... Two reason one money the other it seems
is players being advised by third partys not to come to Leigh.........

TOMMY MARTYN brought in fans who had not been to matches for years
Tell me this why do 100,s of Leythers go week in week out to watch
WIGAN OR SAINTS i find it incredible that Leigh people wont support there own town team my neighbour goes to watch Saints every week with Saints flags flying around on the outside of his car it drives me mad that 20 odd years ago we had a team of young local lads several World Class
lead by a couple of big class forwards T Martyn snr ect ect over the years we should have built on that kinda of success just like Wigan ..Saints Leeds
have those teams could ,nt live with Leigh back in 80 /81 this club of ours is incable of building on success we should have built on the success of
the team Martyn lead to SL instead even tho it was a uneven playing field
some of the players we have had to let go Wilkes Grix Bibby Moore
have become household names playing for the Wildcats in SL why is it we could,nt keep those players and build around them instead of starting from scratch every season its mindboggling..............

| And how many did we have when Tommy was playing?
2500 tops, a thousand more for a decent play off game, and double that if we could hurl abuse at Wiganers for 80 minutes.
Its been the same for 20 years.

Well that's about 700+ up on our current average.
£16 x say 500 is £8000 per home game (approx £128000 over 16 games). I think we could have a couple of decent players for that amount

That analogy is one of the worst things you have put up on here, from the crassness of that remark I gather none of your family have ever been the subject of a sexual attack, I have had a family member subject of rape and to compare it with a sports club is totally out of order especially trying to gain political capital out of it.
I for one hope none of yours have to go through the trauma ssociated with that particular nasty crime.

Average is more like £11 with concessions.
Take away VAT leaves you with less than £10, take away employers NIC leaves you with about £8.
£8 x 500 = £4000.
You wont get 500 for every one of the 16 games, 10 tops.
£40000 gets you a Penk.
Penk wont add 500 to the gate.

| Cant do anything this year now.
Now as for nex year???? but then again I suppose just as a devils advocate .... why should the directors (AT) speculate if the fans wont by buying season tickets, its all right saying how well supported as a club we were but we have NEVER had season ticket sales as good as Widnes or Halifax and even through our so called 'good years' we only sold marginally more than Whitehaven and NEVER approached the figures of Huddersfield, Salford, Castlefordetc.... uust throwing those figures and comments in as being a devils advocate...
It is another fact that the RFL check the budgets on a regular basis especiall on those clubs with 'previous' on salary cap breaches, and check them thoroughly too.

| The club can,t quite be up to the salary cap if we can offer a contract to an Australian stand off and also offer to take players on loan.
I realise however there can,t be much in the kitty.

I am not sure about that , but that is another area where the NL1s representatives at the RFLs junket days should start to do some tough talking at their meetings at the posh away days instead of just being noding dogs
I would get together with all the other clubs below Super League and insist that if your club brings a young player through your Service Area or Acadamy and he breaks into the first team he should be exempt from the salary cap. That way it encourages clubs to spend money on youth development and you can afford to pay these lads instead of some SL side taking them straight off you.You could always have an age limit like 21/22 so you get a return on your investment. If you are doing it right as well which it apears Leigh does you should also have plenty of money over to buy a few experianced big names to help pull them along.
I would love to go to these junket meetings to see what happens each club has a rep and NL1 and below outnumber the Soooper Dooper reps but we always get shortchanged for some reason.

Extract from RL Operational Rules on NL Salary Cap:-
7.3 Costs for those players under 21 who are eligible to play in the academy teams are to be excluded from the Salary Cap Costs. For the avoidance of doubt this means players need to be under 21 years of age on August 31st 2008. However there is no credit granted against Salary Cap cost for U21 players loaned out to other clubs see 6.4.2
above.

| I thought crowds would have increased significantly when Martyn signed. It was talked about for a few years that he may sign, and for us a dream signing when it finally happened. Crowds did not show that in 2004 - crowds very poor for league games and considering we was doing well.

Thanks for the clarification , so how about if you have invested in a young player through his playing carreer and he gets into the first team he becomes exempt from the salary cap regardless of age. Of course if he chooses to move on, the team who takes him will have to adhere to the cap. You are then rewarded for investing in youth and you can then afford to pay a few players to come in and play for you?

There you go, a genuine modern time RL/SL legend coming home and he was proud to wear the Leigh shirt to.
You can't get any bigger signing than that and the proof is there in the stats - successful team with Tommy God and crowds actually went down in league games. Unyet we should learn from history by doing it again - overspending on what we can afford in the desparate hope crowds will increase significantly.
