First blank weekend Wigan have (e.g. knocked out of the Cup) we're using their entire first choice 17, apparently - then the rule will be changed!

First up its a total disgrace what is now going on.
Clubs like 'Swinton' and 'Hunslet' are making a total mockery of the league we are in and it has to stop.

I'd like Tevor Barton or our club to come out publicly and tell the Leigh supporters just what the ruling is on this and whether they back this idea or not.

I appreciate Leigh are not guilty and the 'clubs' involved in this (at the moment) are the poorly run ones in our sport - if the RFL are using this though as a lever to force the few remaining ambitious stand alone championship clubs to get on board and become training clubs like Hunslet, Swinton etc I think our owners have a duty to keep us the fans informed as indirectly this affects Leighs revenue - why would anyone want to watch a hybrid team from Hunslet that consists of 50% Leeds Rhino's 50% Hunslet Hawks - its a utter farce.

I hope our owners act quickly as the reality of the DC arrangement is not what the RFL and the clubs talked about before a ball was kicked.
This issue is the biggest single threat to Leigh Centurions long term existance as a stand alone RL club in its entire history IMHO and I'd like Leigh to act on this.

If it carries on unchallenged or unquestioned could someone tell me what the point of staying in the Championship is for Leigh as clearly 1 year from now we will be watching another teams reserve team running around in Leigh jerseys.

From what I have read on the other boards even Swinton and Hunslet will lose fans because of this.

This is a serious threat to the games pro existence outside NON RELEGATION LEAGUE and even they won't survive without other pro clubs.

I did post when licenscing was introduced it would lead to the pro games decline. The game is being run by people who don't understand the damage they are doing.

I actually really do feel for the fans of those clubs.
I know if Leigh was in this dreadful situation and slowly losing our identity week by week by playing Wigans SL players (or anyone elses) in this way I wouldn't set foot in the LSV ever again as the club (to me) would have become so far removed from the one that I started supporting at the outset.

This is a big problem and if left alone to 'see how it goes' will mean the Championship will be in everything bar name a SL reserve league.

Who wants to pay upwards of £18.00 to watch that ?

Its ok mate cos bus loads of wire and rhino fans will be happy to pay £15+ to watch there kids play along side some crocks who need a run out to help regain some fitness.

Its ok boycotting these away games but I also have concerns with regards to the home one’s, just having a few ‘better’ players on the pitch doesn’t necessarily mean we will see better games.

I have seen many a reserve team football game and surprisingly they can be quite entertaining, until a first team player joins them, some of his team mates are then told just pass it to him we need to get him fit for next week, and that basically is all that game is about. And its Sh!te.

Ok this may not be quite the same and it’s probably not quite as easy as that in RL or in theory should the parent club be dictating who and for how long someone plays, but I can see the ‘top’ players forcing that by wanting the ball every set in the first half and then perhaps not even coming out for the second.

I’ll see how the first few home games go, but I never paid to watch reserve team football…………

we have linked up with saints but delined 3 players last week to play our own,been offered gardner,wheeler and clough for this week.DR was never for and never should be for keeping established SL players fit,it was about developing young players and it worked.We have 2 games in 5 days so i would expect to one or two saints players play at either cougars on sunday or at home to you guys on thursday.Still doesnt make it right but this is the rfls's vision of the future by the looks of things

Actually if the SL club 'releases' 12 players and 'suggest' to them they have to sign for their twinned championship club they could field 17. Wire thought doing it 5 at a time would mean we wouldn't notice

One of my programme correspondents maintains that it was only media pressure that forced Swinton to explain what had happened last week. The media were, like the rest of us, 'confused' at what had gone on!

I also think any player that 'signs' for the twinned club should not be allowed to re sign for the SL club they were 'released' from for twelve months after the end of the season they signed for

The rfl must be at the forefront of this policy with the full cooperation of the clubs, or it couldn't go ahead.

Its been nearly a week now since swinton told us what they think there future in the game is, and still, theres no statement from the governing body as to what the future of the championships is.

I wasn't expecting anyone else but the RFL to act. Then again I fully expect the RFL to keep their mouths firmly shut. Yet another badly thought out initiative from the fat one.

Its a badly thought out initiative for 6 clubs,all the others have bought into it 100%.

As things stand i'll be picking and choosing my games this season, both home and away.
I have no interest in helping to finance a reserve league or any club in it.

Wholeheartedly agree about away games mate, won't be doing similar for home games though unless we end up going down the same route. A strongly worded statement from the club about it's intentions would be a huge help either way though.

A statement needs making about what is happening NOW and what is going to happen at the end of the 2014 season when the current licencing period is up.
Iv'e had enough of paying good money just to be treated like a door mat.

Regarding Kylie Leuluai; he is Samoan so qualifies to play over here under the Kolpak ruling, and enjoys the same freedom of employment as the Bosman ruling affords to EU citizens.

A statement from the club??

They could make their displeasure at the situation known, but what else could they possibly say about either what is happening now, or what is happening at the end of 2014? We've no idea as the RFL have no idea, or are keeping everyone in the dark about it.

So on the presumption that you're not talkign about an RFL statement, I'd like to know what you think the club could possibly say to us. We already know they don't like the current DR setup, that was covered some months ago.

I wouldn't mind a collective statement from the chairmen of the championship clubs, if the rfl refuse to clarify whats currently going on.

That's good enough for me. I know the club have tried to distance themselves from it during pre-season, but the ball game has changed somewhat since then and it may be good for something of a reminder?

Well by 'staying away' you are just walking into the hands of the RFL, thats what they want attendances to dwindle, revenue to go down and clubs to fail and go bang (outside of SL of course) then the SL clubs can have ALL the monies and sponsorships on offer, it's the quickest way to say goodbye to our club, and once it's gone I hope you all feel very proud, you can all have little badges made with I HELPED THE RFL KILL LEIGH RFC.
