As for the SL deal? , well it is an interesting one, massive exposure against a relatively small amount of cash, the vote was very close, if it was the Championships, which would we take?

Sure I read in the RL press, that NO MONEY has changed hands, and that the SL clubs were only aware of the detail of the Betfair offer 6 hours, yes 6 hours before the meeting

But potentially huge exposure for the sport, the Betfair offer was 50 grand each, the equvilant of 5 grand to us, or 300 trucks driving around the country with your competition and clubs plastered all over them?

Thers a thread on the Hudds board were they say 6 clubs voted for stobart and 5 voted for betfred,4 clubs never turned up for the meeting

Well if having a player which 90% of the country won't recognise or care about raises each clubs income by 50000 then its the right decision.

Well Fred I know things have moved on (badly because of franchising imo and for the pro game in general) but i have been a Leyther for a long time and never thought I would see my team win at Wembley..................but they did.



Nobody knows what is round the next corner till they get there.

Maybe the betting place sponsor was a no goer because advertising betting is illegal in France (isn't it?) and what with Catalan being in the SL comp????

Correct Fred, although companies tend to just use a slogan rather than the company name. Think Leeds had 'Smoothly does it' or summat along those lines rather than the actual Tetley's beer name.

Not a lot can be done though when the whole league would be named after them though??

I'm sure there would be ways around it considering the alcohol sponsorship in the Champions League etc.

In today's Manchester Evening News it says Betfair offered £750 000 but it was turned down as Richard Lewis did not want the sport to be sponsored by a betting company. 5 clubs voted for Betfair incidentally.

Mr Lewis says the quality of stadia in Superleague (we all know it is Non Relegation league) has improved purely because of the licensing system.
