Not been on here for a while but anyone thinking top 4 next year will be hard im not sure i agree, we have just added 100K's worth of talent to a squad thats lost 2 league games in 2 years. I see nothing but a journey to next August were by the real test begins.

I must say I agree 100% with you Ste,as I feel Fev are weaker this year , I'm not sure about Bradford, London are a bit unknown but should be beatable, Sheff are in transition,and I think Fax wont take teams by surprise as they did last year ,for me they will finish 4th or 5th, I predict Dews as my dark horses, I just hope we learn from last season's mistakes in the Qualifiers.

). Inclined to agree with Charlie, Dewsbury improve every year wouldn't be at all surprised if they did a Fax, made the top 4 & impressed a lot of people in The Qualifiers. Think they're still a few years off challenging for top spot & promotion but if they carry on as they have they'll get there.

I see Bradford have announced that they are running with a reduced FT squad next season which only suggests one thing to me. Come the Middle 8's they will have room to manoeuvre under the salary cap so one should expect an influx of Full Time Super League loan signings in at Odsal to bolster their numbers and give them a massive boost when you need it most.

You only lost 2 'league' games in 2 years because you were playing part timers most weeks.
The 8s were a disaster for you last year and you found your level as was seen in your final finishing position.

The reality is you may finish top of the Championship next year without losing a game (only threat could have been Bradford but they seem in the poo poo again, and can see them losing a few stars and going backwards.)
You may take a scalp or 2 in the CC (you wont win it with a championship squad.)
I also think you will be running a very thin squad if you sign Rangi which wont help you at all come the 8s, and even if you do make the MPG when it boils down to it if you play any SL opposition you will lose as there is a vast difference in SL quality and Championship quality as all championship teams found out last year.
The system favors SL teams and while ever it is like this i carnt see any Championship club making it to SL which makes the system flawed but there is a small glimmer of hope that will never come true sad but fact.

Probably the same conversation Derek Beaumont is having with the RFL. Now if you can see it and we can see it,why can't the RFL not see it? Theres an obvious answer and it's not Josh Charnely on loan.

Cory Patterson: Went from NRL to hull KR ripped it up to an extent then went home to peruse NRL/Boxing didnt get a gig so Salford came in with.... you guessed it COLD HARD CASH and the chance of playing middle 8s and a the possibility or relegation and intense games against championship opposition = mercenary


Reni Matutai: played City Origin 10 years ago not SOO big difference. Hands up 1 Aus cap 9 years ago....... but hes hardly Jonathan Thurston... not going to get you into SL im afraid if he was SL quality im sure he would be playing SL on more money than he is receiving at Leigh as he is at the back end of his career and is only after 1 thing...... you guessed it COLD HARD CASH = mercenary


Dayne Weston: is no Sam Burgess but ill give you this 1 hes 28 so still young in terms of a prop 6'3 so is not a small man has played NRL recently, could be your best signing.
IMO better signing than Moi Moi who is most definitely a mercenary and isn't even championship level and should retire.

All in all you could go on again like you did last year about how good Leigh actually are but when you actually look at the situation we are in a salary cap sport with championship clubs getting nowhere near as much funding, and being expected to compete with SL clubs getting a full 1.8m being FULLY paid to them by Sky, Leigh dont stand a chance and have to look at the reality until they are allowed to spend the full cap they wont be able to compete and will find themselfs in exactly the same situation as this coming year.
