I'm sure there will be a jolly good reason but why no replays on our big screen?

What is it for?

It has a few pretty colours but can't even manage to give the number of tries and goals. Why so poor in a 'state of the art' stadium.

Not a high enough resolution for the sky software to use.

Maybe to stop the diasappointment.......

We know it isnt your fault Andrew but even Hilton Park managed to show the replays and it ain't good enough.

At hilton park replays where shown on sky's own screen thats why it worked,do we have to moan about anything and everything?

That's what we are here for!

Sky only use their own equipment and they don't bring their screen to Championship matches, therefore no big screen replays.

Secondly, I'm open to suggestions, but I'm not sure we can fit the logos, scores, clock AND scorers on the screen in a way that everyone can read.

If you can come up with something then please let me know. The screen is 440px by 240px so lets see those designs.

But, and it's a big but, only in Super League! Also like Michael said, it was their own screen, which by the way cost the club a fortune at the time.

Yes we are here to discuss rugby but every thread gets dragged down to a doom and gloom negative thread,yes we are not playing well,yes we all preffered Hilton park,
But lets get real we are just a good(when we want to be)National league side,forget the holy grail of Superleague its not going to happen,next will be Toulose then a Scottish team then an Irish team when the magic weekend goes there,lets all try and get behind the club instead of constantly slaging them off for everthing.
Don't forget our lads are only part time and work most days then train/play at nights i could'nt do this so come on lets ease up a bit.

Got to agree - not Andy or Michael's faults they're just doing what they can with what's there but I also thought the LSV made a big thing about having met all Sky's requirements, even for HD...

Someone at the Club tried to tell me that I was 'lucky', watching our Toulouse game on the Internet, as it was 'ten times worse', live in France! I pointed out to him that he only saw the Toulouse tries once - we had to endure them through five or six replays!

This is the point we are trying to make (not Speners!).

It does meet all Skys criteria for HD (they only stipulate HD for floodlight ratings) the screen are only glorified scoreboards (this is another groundhog day Ive been through all this umpteen times before

) they cant show a video signal as the 'pixels' (for want of a better explanation) resolution isn't high enough.
The big screen at SL games are not the same as at the LSV.

Fred, does it show video of any description of is it pictures/images only?

IF they had the hardware it would show low resolution vid so our Andy informs me.

That being the case Fred (or anyone who has knowledge of this) - and please don't bite my head off for asking a genuine question!! - was this a mistake by someone within the stadium Mgmt team - or does this come under the actual 'fit & finish' of the build?

... or a genuine cost-cutter? (as I suspect - and I'm guessing that is why we do not have screens in place at both corners!)

I dont think cost cutting was the reason, otherwise we wouldnt have a £100k telly strapped to the front of the West Stand showing adverts to the trees.

The cost of a 'proper' tv style screen of any size would be astrom asmo..... too much

far far too much to be honest (imagine the price of a 250 inch LCD or Plasma tv that was weather proof ?- the ones that SKY hire out to SL clubs cost a fortune) so I suppose cost cutting would be a reason but honestly whoever was responsble for the whole design of the place with TV cameras etc in mind didnt get much if any advice from 'them in the know' for example if the sun had been shining bright last evening it would have been directly over the centre of the west stand directly in the lenses of the cameras in the east stand, a nuisance to my £600 camcorder but to a HD broadcast camera where the lenses alone cost £12000 a massive problem as a bright sunlight can burn a lens out (it happened to one of mine at Hilton Park a couple of years ago as like a nit I turned it on when it was pointing directly at the sun - by accident I hastily add

) so a mixture of cost cutting and/or bad advice IMO.

Does it really matter we will be on sky around 3 times this season,why are we always looking for someone to crucify?

Funny enough ALL broadcast TV cameras up until HD came out were a type of betamax it was far superior to VHS.
